IPB University received a visit from Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta State Islamic University (UIN). The benchmarking event with UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta took place at the IPB International Convention Center, Bogor not too long ago.
"Welcome to IPB University to the respectful leadership team of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah which consists of the rector, vice-rector, dean, hospital director, and head of bureau. What we hope to achieve is for us to strengthen our collaboration within the framework of global collaboration," said Prof Arif Satria, the Rector of IPB University.
He stated that IPB University, at the moment, has currently established 50 international research consortia. According to Prof Arif, the collaboration with UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta is an extraordinary opportunity for IPB University, especially in terms of educational cooperation with universities in the Middle East. The Rector also mentioned that he will soon be visiting several universities in the Middle East, one of which is the Islamic University of Madinah.
Regarding the benchmarking with UIN, Prof Arif mentioned that the financial aspect is considered the most dominant shift in the status change of IPB University into a PTN BH. "Almost all of it is related to the financial reform portion," he stated.
Prof Asep Saepudin Jahar, the Rector of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, expressed his gratitude to the leadership team of IPB University. "We have come here with the intention to learn and exchange ideas. IPB University has a wealth of experience in the process of attaining the status of a PTN BH. We are interested in understanding how IPB University achieved its independence and reached its current state," he spoked.
Not only that, he also wishes to gather information about the changes that occurred in the system, budget, and how to respond to the reactions that emerged from the students when the status change to PTN BH took place.
"IPB University collaborates with various parties, for instance alumni and private entities, to provide financial support for students who experience changes due to the PTN BH status change. For students who are unable to afford the costs, we seek solutions through these various channels by providing scholarships," answered Prof Arif in response.
A similar statement was made by the Vice-Rector of IPB University for Global Connectivity, Cooperation, and Alumni Affairs, Prof Iskandar Z Siregar. According to him, alternative funding sources, with the exception of assets, can be obtained through national collaborations and international funding in the form of grants and loans.
