The Creativity in Producing Intelligence Health Food Brought the IPB Students to go to Thailand

Innovation efforts have been carried out by the academic communities of Bogor Agricultural University to  improve its university performances. This time, innovations in the food product was achieved, and the product had brought the student  of the Department of  Biochemistry, namely RR Ike Rahmania S to the Youth Empowerment Society for Sustainable Development Goals (YES4SDG) conference in Thailand on October 2017. Ike successfully passed the selection processes and was selected to be the Top 10 Best Paper. Accordingly, she was entitled to be elected as the Indonesia's representative for this program in Thailand.

Ike innovation was about IFo (Intelligence Food), this product utilizes red spinach. It was chosen for her object, as it has the efficacy of neuroprotective and rich in antioxidant.  Neuroprotective agents are used in an attempt to save ischemic neurons in the brain from irreversible injury. Red spinach its preparations have been widely recognized as agents for prevention and treatment of cardiovascular and other metabolic diseases, atherosclerosis, hyperlipidemia, thrombosis, hypertension, dementia, cancer and diabetes so. By Ike, red spinach is processed into smoothies and food supplements.

"The high degenerative diseases caused by the lifestyle of modern society that tends to be practical by consuming fast food and soft drinks. Throughout the world, major shifts in dietary patterns are occurring, even in the consumption of basic staples towards more diversified diets. Accompanying these changes in food consumption at a global and regional level have been considerable health consequences. This is an impetus to innovate food in the form of smoothies and dietary supplements with red spinach ingredients, "said Ike explained the innovation.

Initiated by the United Nations (UN), the Youth Summit program is an international conference program involving world youth representatives to discuss Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The SDGs are the UN's work program to achieve a better world by 2030. The program has a mission to develop global youth leadership that cares about the needs of the world and sharpens the ability of the world's youth to participate in SDGs-related exercises.

The Youth Summit was attended by various youth representative  from different  countries, especially Asia. Ike's food innovation relates to the completion of Suistanable Development Goal's (SGGs) point number three, namely good health and wellbeing.

In the future Ike hopes that her  innovation will be widely known by the community and can be produced on an industrial scale. (Wied)
