Innovation on YourGuides Application of IPB Student Won Entrepreneur Competition
Six students of Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) divided into two teams successfully won two champions in the competition KOPMA Unhas Fair 2017 held by Hasanuddin University, Makassar on December 17, 2017 ago. The competition was an annual event of Student Activity Units (UKM) Student Cooperative (KOPMA) of Unhas entitled "Youth Role in Creating Global Competitive Entrepreneurs". In 2017, the competition was participated by 32 Universities in Indonesia.
First Team consisted of Andang Rahmatullah, Pujiyati, and Bella Irma Malina from the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) IPB. While the second team, namely Agus Supriyanto, Abdul Baits Dehana, and M. Zainul Muhibbin from the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Biosystem, Faculty of Agricultural Technology (Fateta) IPB.
The journey of these delegates of IPB to win 2nd and 3rd place was very tight. Before becoming eight major finalists on the debates competition, they must compete first with hundreds of other teams from around 30 universities all over Indonesia in the essays selection. Their creative ideas was poured through essay. Their essays were related to innovations in tourism to help increase the economy sector. The innovation was the idea of ??"YourGuides" application, an app for tour guides.
"The system is like the application of online transportation such as Gojek, Grab, and Uber, but we focus on tourism development in Indonesia," said Pujiyati.
Starting from the preliminary round until the semi-finals they managed to beat teams from other universities. At the final round, they against the host team with a motion to discuss about Three Years of Jokowi-JK Leadership related to Cooperatives and SMEs.
"Alhamdulillah, in the debate competition, the two teams successfully won the champions of the 2nd and 3rd places. We did not expect to be able to win two champions, because most of the participants were qualified in the field of economics, especially related to cooperatives and SMEs. However, with preparation and good effort we managed to become champions, "added Pujiyati. (TK)
