Through the Dosen Mengabdi Program, The Institute of Research and Community Service (LPPM) of IPB University Introducing The Data Visualization to the orphans by Using Tableau Desktop on Saturday (7/12). The program consisted of training and capacity building for 26 orphans under the auspices of the Al-Ruhamaa Foundation, Situ Gede, Bogor.

Tableu Desktop Software is a well-known and widely used software by companies. Hence, the training program is expected to provide the student with a relevant qualification before opt-in to the workforce.

Dr. Donny Citra Lesmana, S.Si, M.Fin.Math, a keynote speaker from the Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), IPB University, explained the importance of data processing for the information. "This information is notably used for decision making. Whether in business, political or social spectrum, depending on the type of data that is proceed," he added.

In the fast changing world, he also determine that the growth of data is running exponentially in every moment, even on a second scale. This data visualization training is absolutely essentials for the students in order to ease their understanding about data processing and enable them to create a substantive information.

Accordingly, the current millennial demands a comprehensive qualification in data processing. In this training session, the participants were directly trained the practice of data visualization on the world sales products, in order to help them analyze the market as easy as possible. The data can be in the form of annual or monthly data accumulation, depends on the objective. Meanwhile, the respective information can be processed and presented in a graphical form with various models, such as line charts, pie charts and map charts. 

Sukma, the manager of the Al-Ruhamaa Foundation, said that the training in regards with data visualization had never been carried out and it was the first time ever. Hence, the training is profoundly meaningful for the development of students and scale-up their qualification. This training is not solely for the sake of academic business, such as mastering at college assignments, research reports, or thesis but also essential for their readiness to enter the workforce.

The data visualization training is expected to be taken seriously by the respective participants, hopefully this knowledge proliferation can be manifested into their knowledge progress and skills take-off so that they can compete in the workforce and gain a prosperous life carrier. (IAAS/RI)
