Celebrating the 56th Dies Natalis, IPB University Holds Badminton Championship

Celebrating the 56th Dies Natalis of IPB University, the Sports and Arts Unit held the Men’s Dual Badminton Championship Between Work Units in IPB University. The championship was held at IPB University Sports Building, Dramaga Campus, Bogor (23-30/9). This year’s Men’s Doubles Badminton Championship was participated by 22 teams.

“This activity aims to strengthen friendship and increase solidarity between leaders, educators and educational staff in the University of IPB,” said Abdul Aziz, SE, MM as the Head of Committee of Badminton Championship who also served as Deputy Head of Sports and Arts Services at IPB University.

The championship consisted of four rounds of game; preliminary, quarter-finals, semifinals, and finals. Despite the “competition” title, this badminton championship still promoted togetherness and sportsmanship first.

Dr Cahyono Tri Wibowo as Head of Sport and Arts Unit of IPB University in his remarks said that this badminton championship was a series of Dies Natalis IPB University in the field of sports. Besides badminton, there were also archery and table tennis championships.

“The main purpose is to strengthen our bond. This championship can also be a platform to channel the participants’ hobbies in badminton, so not only they practice but they also compete,” he said.

Dr. Cahyono also added that IPB University would keep advancing its sports field. IPB University would serve as a media for those who had hobbies in sports. He also hoped that in the future, an event like this would keep developing and even involve participants from outside IPB University.
