IPB University Students Build Trash Houses in Pandeglang
IPB University students who are participating in the 2019 Thematic Real Work Lecture (KKN-T), are building a trash house in Pagadungan Village, Pandeglang Regency. The inauguration of the garbage house was carried out by Muhtadi, Secretary of Karang Tanjung Subdistrict, Pandeglang (27/7). At the inauguration of this garbage house, the community was also trained to be able to sort waste and make waste economically valuable.
In this garbage house, there are two containers for organic waste and inorganic waste. In the organic container, students add Black Soldier Fly (BSF) larvae which function to decompose organic waste into fertilizer so that it is useful for residents of the Pagadungan Village. Besides being able to be used as waste decomposers, BSF larvae can be used as fish feed. This is in accordance with the conditions of the Pagadungan Village which do a lot of fish farming.
As for inorganic containers, we provide five more containers in accordance with the waste category. Namely for plastic bottle bins, plastic, paper, cans, B3 and residues. In its management, inorganic waste with economic value can be sold to collectors.
"The garbage house was built because the current garbage problem is a big thing that must be handled and facilitated so that the community has a place to manage its waste," said Dannyel, an IPB University student who is responsible for the construction of garbage houses.
In the training on waste segregation, students conduct socialization on waste segregation at the village and neighborhood levels. Students also take concrete action by collecting rubbish with children at the KKN-T location. (NR)
