Rector: Entering the Political Year, IPB Must Be Neutral

The Directorate of Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation (Ditrenbang) of the Bogor Agricultural Institute (IPB) again held a Planning and Development Conference (Musrenbang) at IPB International Convention Center (IICC), Tuesday (4/12). Phase II of the Musrenbang is carried out in order to continue the discussion of the plan or program and activities of the IPB in 2019.

In his remarks, the Rector of IPB, Dr. Arif Satria emphasized that IPB in this disruption era can adapt to all changes that occur. “Right now it’s no longer a big or small problem, but who is quick to adapt and can take advantage of opportunities, they will survive,” he said.

In addition, the Rector of IPB also explained that the 2019 program in accordance with the 2019-2023 IPB Strategic Plan was the Excellent Innovation Ecosystem. “The Excellent Innovation Ecosystem includes the establishment of fair and open incentive systems, the development of reliable information and communication systems and the development of educational and innovation facilities and infrastructure,” he said.

According to him, the design of this program is based on 2019 income estimates, priority programs and basic needs of IPB 2019, proposed programs or activities in the 2018 Musrenbang, previous year programs or activities and government assignment programs.

The Rector of IPB also gave some notes that must be considered in the implementation of the IPB program or activity in 2019. First, the Rector of IPB reminded that 2019 is a political year, so IPB must be neutral.

Secondly, the Rector of IPB also advised that each unit can maintain the effectiveness and efficiency of budget users and be able to find alternative funding sources, especially by increasing cooperation programs.

Phase II of the Musrenbang was attended by all structural officials of IPB, starting with the Rector and deputy Rector, deans and deputy deans, heads of departments, heads of bureaus, heads of offices, directors to the head of the center.

Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Ir. Agus Purwito, M.Sc. Agr, as the Deputy Rector for Resources, Planning and Finance, hopes that the gathering of all these officials will be able to present positive ideas, suggestions and inputs for the planning of IPB programs or activities in 2019. (NR)
