IPB Students Create an Application as a Forum to Hone Interests and Talents
Technological improvement occurs quickly, almost all humans nowadays own a smartphone to communicate easily. Besides that, with the continously improving technology, many hi-tech applications are assisting humans in their everyday lives. However, many of the goals of these applications are still focused on the academical use only, it still hasn’t become a certain forum for training talents and interests that can be further developed by the mass community through a certain application.
From this background, three students from Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) sparked an idea which was than actualized through the Student Creativity Creations Program (PKM-KC) 2018. They consist of Azman Fatahillah, Veila Deby, and Hafidzudin Kautsar with the title of their Program “Bakat In, an Application Based on Mobile Apps to Hone and Combine Interests and Talents of the Community.” The team was supervised by one of the lecturers of the Computer Science Department of IPB which is Auzi Asfarian S. Komp., M.Komp.
“Our application is focused only on interests and talents. This application is so that people who have diffuculties in finding their interests and talents can find an event or competition which is in line with their interests and talents through this application. This application can be accessed whenever and wherever,” says Azman, the Leader of the Bakat In PKM team.
In this applicaiton, there are certain features that can be used by the the user. These features consist of finding a trainer, a training feature, an event finder, a community feature, and a Homepage. Homepage is used to upload creations that have been created by the user so that it can be seen and rated by other users. The finding a trainer feature is used to find a trainer for the user who can help develop the users skills. The entire concept of the application that is used especially during the learning sessions can be used online.
The learning system that is used by the trainers are videos that can be accessed by the users which afterwards will be given tasks by the trainers. After completing the tasks, the users will also obtain ratings and suggestions from their trainers. The event finding feature is used to help users in finding information about competitions that are in line with their interests and talents. The last feature, which is the community feature is used to collaborate with other users which also have the same interests.“People who want to apply theirselves as trainers in the application can apply offline by bringing the conditioned paperwork such as certificates and portfolios or creations that they have made so that the admin can sort them out properly,” Azman added.
The users which want to join in the application must have an account which is filled with sign up features by using their emails. Other than that, the users who wish to obtain training must pay the trainers that they choose.
“We hope that with this application, it can become beneficial to many people and create more innovative people. Especially with our extra features which are able to aid peope who are trying to hone their interests and talents,” Azman closed the statement. (AVR)
