Many parties were worried about the number of unemployed from the circle of universities whose numbers were still relatively high. On the other hand, the companies complained that it was increasingly difficult to get candidates for university graduate employees which really fit their company’ needs. There were many candidates available, but very few who had adequate qualifications.

Based on that thought, the Directorate of Student Affairs and Career Development (DKPK), Bogor Agricultural University (IPB), seeked to be a facilitator to unite the interests of the business world as the provider of employment with the graduates of IPB and other universities. The Directorate also facilitated the graduates who wished to continue their education to a higher level.

One of the efforts of DKPK of IPB was to organize IPB Job Fair Career and Scholarship Expo 2018. This Job Fair was held in Graha Widya Wisuda (GWW) Building, Campus of IPB, Darmaga Bogor, 28-29/4.

The Director of Student Affairs and Career Development IPB, Dr. Alim Setiawan, explained that the program of Job Fair was routinely implemented by IPB twice a year. This year, it was held in April and upcoming September.

The implementation of this Job Fair program was a form of commitment of IPB to accelerate the absorption of the graduates of IPB in the working world.

“The Program of Job Fair IPB in 2018 is an integrated workflow activity, combining the promotions, the presentations, the exhibitions, the free career consultations, and the activities in the campus recuitment which are undertaken by the company. We design to be one unit in order to provide the maximum benefits for the partner companies of IPB and the alumni/students of IPB, and the graduates or students of various other universities,” he said.

Entering the era of Industrial Revolution 4.0, IPB strived to continue preparing students and graduates with the competence, the soft skills and the literacy skills to suit the needs and the technological developments. The goal was that the graduates of IPB were ready to compete in the working world and adaptive to the changing times.

The Vice Rector for Education and Student Affairs of IPB, Dr.Ir. Drajat Martianto, in his speech, said that the current challenge was very heavy, both for the companies and the universities. Because of the changes that were happening now all were required to create the new strategies in terms of the recruitment and in the education itself.

“IPB facilitates the business circles in obtaining the necessary human resources. We always build a synergistic and mutual beneficial relationship with the business circles, especially in providing human resources, “ he said.
