IPB Students Hold Expo to Promote the Results of Their Expedition to Kalimantan

The Association Students of Silviculture, of Bogor Agricultural University (IPB), Tree Grower Community (TGC), organized Expo for their expedition, on 14-16 March 2018 at Pinus Corridor of the Faculty of Agriculture, on Wednesday, 14 March 2018. "TGC is the association of professionals of six groups, namely agroforestry system, three species group, forestry nutrition group, seedling, entomology, and pathology," said TGC Chairman, Qobus Dorojatun Mulyasara.

The six existing groups in the TGC are the groups that represent the silviculture and none of which is higlighted in the expo, as they are all important knowledge.

"We are the six scientific groups are equal, no one would be highlighted in this expo, because we represent silviculture as science. Every year silviculture will experience changes due to the developments," said Qobus. The Expo was expected to the way to promote silviculture to public at large, especially university students on silviculture. Hopefully they  apply it in their daily activities.

The TGC Expo with the theme "Ayo Kenal Lebih Dalam Tree Grower Community dan Silvikultur (Let’s Learn More on the Tree Grower Community and Silviculture)" is one of the events to exhibit the results of the expedition program carried out by students of the  Silviculture of the Faculty of Forestry (FAHUTAN).

"The annual work-programs of Tree Grower Community are explorations, expeditions and scientific studies. We will study the output of this scientific group through exploration program. For example last year we carried out  the exploration program to Tanjung Putting National Park, Central Kalimantan, then we exhibited the result of this expedition program through the present expo. Similar programs had also been carried in such ways previously, "said Nurhayati, Responsible Expo Tree Grower Community.

The Expo was actually the implementation of the planned annual work-program of Tree Grower Community. However, as the theme is always changed, therefore it also affects the repacking its annual program. The theme for this year program is “Ayo Kenal Lebih dalam Tree Grower Community dan Silvikultur (Let’s Learn More on the Tree Grower Community and Silviculture)," he added. (Wied)
