Effort of the Center of Agrarian Studies of IPB to Continue the Critical Tradition of Bogor Sect
Center for Agrarian Studies (PSA) of Institute for Research and Community Service of Bogor Agricultural University (LPPM IPB), organized the seminar on Gender and Agrarian Studies on " Perempuan dan Agraria Belajar dan Bersama Perempuan pada Wilayah Krisis Sosial Ekologis (Women and Agrarian Learning and Together Women in Ecological Social Crisis Area)", in Baehaqi Hall, IPB Campus, Baranangsiang, Bogor, on 16 November 2017. The seminar was jointly organized by PSA IPB with Sajogyo Institute; Division of Population, Agrarian and Political Ecology (KARP) Science Communication and Community Development (SKPM) of the Faculty of Human Ecology (FEMA IPB); and Samdhana Institute and Akatiga.
This seminar was one of the serial programs to commemorate its twenty-fifth year (a quarter of a century old) of the Center and the launching of Biography of Dr. Satyawan Sunito. He was the scholar-agrarian activist and lecturer of the Department SKPM Fema IPB. The seminar aims to enrich agrarian and gender studies and movements and create strong literature on agrarian and gender studies in Indonesia.
Head of PSA of LPPM IPB, Dr. Rina Mardiana, stated that PSA is a 'continuation' of the Center for Agrarian Studies (PKA). The Center was established and exist to assist the struggle of Pioneers of Agrarian study and agrarian sect and movement of Bogor.
"The efforts to discuss and expanding the learning experience and encouraging the improvement of the crisis are very appropriate if implemented jointly between the Center of Agrarian Studies with the Sajogyo Institute, so that the spirit of the Sajogyo Institute and PSA LPPM IPB can’t be separated, he said.
Further, he stated that the Center for Agrarian Studies of LPPM IPB and Sajogyo Institute chose the cooperate together to continue the tradition of the pioneers of agrarian studies of Bogor sect, especially agrarian and gender studies. The effort is not too high given for Prof. Pudjiwati Sajogyo, who has laid the foundation of women's studies in the era of development time. Certainly the efforts of Sajogyo Institute and PSA LPPM IPB is a step to rebuild agrarian and gender studies.
An attempt to redevelop the tradition of agrarian and gender critical studies will be undertaken in three main activities. First, revives the study group of agrarian and gender studies at various research sites of Sajogyo Institute and PSA LPPM IPB. Second, provide services for social movements of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and academicians in enriching agrarian and gender perspectives through agrarian clinics. Third, establih a network of students to enrich agrarian and gender studies and movements in Indonesia, so that activists and academicians are able to produce strong literature related to agrarian and gender studies in Indonesia.
Further, she stressed that this activity was the integrated program to commemorate the twenty-fifth year (a quarter of a century old) services and launching a book on Biography of Dr. Satyawan Sunito. As alumnus and activist of IPB, she was also the faculty member students of agrarian and gender studies. Dr. Satyawan Sunito is the faculty member and educator of the Department of SKPM of FEMA IPB. He is very intensely encouraging pupils students to learn agrarian and gender.
The event was organized in such a way by presenting three resource persons consisting Ir. Siti Sugiah Mugniesyah, MS, lecturers of the Department of the SKPM of FEMA IPB, who presented , " Menemu-kenali Pemikiran Kritis Prof. Pudjiwati Sajogyo terhadap Studi Wanita (Perempuan/Gender) = Discovering Critical Thinking Prof. Pudjiwati Sajogyo on Women's Studies (Women / Gender); Mia Siscawati, PhD, the Head of Study Program on Gender of the University of Indonesia, who presented on "Perkembangan Teori Gender dan Agraria Lingkungan = Development of Gender Theory and Agrarian Environment; and feminist researchers at the Institute for Crisis Studies and Development Strategy (Inkrispena), Ruth Indiah Rahayu, M.Fil, who presented on " Perjalanan Studi dan Gerakan Agraria dan Gender serta Relevansi Temuan Para Perempuan Pelajar = The Historical Background and the Agrarian Movements and Gender and its Relevance of Findings on Women's Student ".
