Training on Sacrifice Animal for Personnel of Mosque Management (DKM) at 17 Sub-Districts/ Villages around the Campus

Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FKH), Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) and the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) of IPB held a "Training on Introduction to Animal Health and Provision of Safe, Healthy, Intact and Halal Meat of Sacrifice Animal as well as the socialization of zoonotic diseases in slaughtered animals to the Personnel of Mosque Management (DKM) in 17 Sub-Districts/villages in partnership with IPB, Sunday (4/9). The activities taking place in the Classroom of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Darmaga Campus of IPB Bogor, is also supported by the Department of Livestock and Fisheries of Bogor.
 
This training is given to 54 personnel of Mosque Management (DKM) in 17 villages around IPB’s campus, and non-FKH 17 students selected by the Student Executive Board of Student Family (BEM KM) IPB. These students are prepared to provide guidance to the community around the campus for the upcoming Eid al-Adha.
 
Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Prof. Dr.DVM. Srihadi Agungpriyono said this training is intended to provide knowledge and education to the personnel of Mosque Management and so they can inform the public about the sacrificial animals that are lawful in Islam, including the slaughter (halalan toyyiban)
.
Head of the Department of Livestock and Fisheries of Bogor Regency, Ir. Hj. Siti Farikah, MM said that this training is a very noble activity. She said there are four aspects of sacrifice guarantee: for the person who sacrifices (the slaughtered animals must meet Islamic law: not deformed, not thin, healthy and acceptable age); guarantees for the recipient of the sacrificial meat (meat received must be safe, healthy, intact and lawful); sacrificed animals (should be treated well and lovingly); and those who manage the sacrificial animals (must be trustworthy, skilled and fully responsible).
 
Vice Head of Research Division of LPPM-IPB, Prof. Dr. DVM. Agik Suprayogi said it is a very strategic program as it coincides with the 53rd Anniversary of IPB and the coming Idul Adha. Therefore, LPPM views that it is necessary to hold the activity regularly every year, and improve it in collaboration with universities, local governments, and communities.
 
Present as a resource person was Dr. DVM. Hasyim Danuri, DEA of Halal Science Center of IPB as well as a number of lecturers of FKH-IPB, namely DVM. Chaerul Basri, M.Epid; Dr. Vet. DVM Hadri Latif; and Dr. DVM. Wiwin Winarsih. The event ended with the practice of checking and treatment of animals when slaughtered. (Mtd)
