Family Activists Association (GiGa) of Indonesia, chaired by a lecturer in the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences (IKK) of the Faculty of Human Ecology (FEMA), Bogor Agricultural University (IPB), Prof. Euis Sunarti organizes Indonesian Family Kindness Movement (GKKI) or GiGa Indonesia Kindness Movement in 2016. The event raising the theme "Let’s Care and Share" was held as part of the XXIII National Family Day of 2016. The social campaign initiated by GIGA Indonesia is increasingly echoed in the peak event, the Indonesian Family Kindness Day held at IPB International Convention Center (IICC), Bogor, on Saturday (23/7).

GKKI is a movement inviting all families in Indonesia to improve the sense of caring and sharing, introducing and disseminating kindness values and the fundamental values of social life such as discipline, responsibility, honesty, helpfulness, sharing, caring, and loving.

"This event is a form of our concerns to the increasing phenomenon of indifference, a declining sense of mutual empathy, and the fading spirit of sharing among individuals, families, and communities," said Professor of IPB in the field of Family Resilience and Empowerment.

This social campaign has been carried out since March 2016 involving the making of Kindness Kit (Kindness Kit), Pilot Project of Indonesian Family Kindness Movement and Social Marketing of Family Kindness. The series of events are increasingly echoed at the peak event to display various actions of kindness.

The peak event was attended by several important figures who work hard in the field of family. They participated in the event by giving a brief introduction in each program, namely, Indonesian Family Kindness Movement, Sowing Kindness Harvesting Happiness, Indonesian Family Diversity, Gift of Kindness "The Family Inspirer", Our Family, Knitting Works Reaping Hopes, and Symphony Harmony. In addition, there was also the giving of awards to the activists of Indonesian families, that is, people who dedicate their lives to the goodness of Indonesian families.

According to the Mayor of Bogor, Dr. Bima Arya Sugiarto there is only one way to spread the kindness movement, that is, by giving examples and becoming a role model. It is implausible to invite kindness without exemplifying kindness. With a real and concrete action, kindness will spread by itself.

Ir. Ambar Rahayu, MNS as the Secretary of the National Family Planning Coordinating Board (BKKBN) also adds to the actions that can be done in the family to act kindly – by doing positive things as simple as cleaning up the environment, beginning with family members, then the immediate neighbors.

To implant the kindness intention, the event was closed by the Declaration of Goodness Indonesian Family Kindness by Dr. Bagus Riyono as Chairman of the Indonesian Civilized Movement.

Taufiq Ismail, a senior poet of Indonesia participating in the event by reading a poem of Family Kindness says that the necessary steps taken by the family to do good things have been stated clearly in the text of the declaration. "What has become the decision of this movement should be made in written form, such as a booklet as a guidebook to be distributed to the immediate neighbors," he added. (Mtd)
