A research collaboration between universities and government agencies has a big role in the advancement of science and technology. In the world of marine research, it is very important to support maritime development in Indonesia.

Three students of Master Program leading to Doctoral Program for Excellent Graduate (PMDSU) of S2-S3 Program of Marine Technology, Department of Marine Science and Technology, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPIK)-Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) establish a research collaboration with the Center for Research and Development of Marine Geology (PPPGL). The research collaboration covers cooperation in studies, field surveys, and publications. The three students are Angga Dwinovantyo, Steven Solikin, and Rina Nurkhayati supervised by the promoter, Dr. Henry Manik and P3GL researcher, Dr. Susilohadi.

The collaborative research in the field of acoustics includes among others the estimated concentration of total suspended solids (TSS) and oil spills using Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP), which will be conducted by Angga, mapping of habitats using Side Scan Sonar by Rina, and the characterization and model of sediment by Steven.

The research program in collaboration with research institutions should receive high priority because this allows higher education institutions, especially IPB to establish cooperation and networking with other agencies. It is expected in the future the collaboration between IPB and P3GL will continue to improve further research in the maritime field. *** (Mtd)
