Dozens of Veterinarians of IPB Served SPR Bojonegoro

Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) continued to support the realization of the independence and sovereignty of the Indonesian farmers. IPB is very consistence to guard the sovereignty of farmers to assist the government in improving the welfare of small farmers in Indonesia. On Tuesday, 6 October 2015, IPB despatched 12 dokter muda (BA Holders of  the School of Veterinary Medicine) and 3 senior veterinarian of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FKH IPB) to one of the Sekolah Peternakan Rakyat (SPR – Social School of Animal Husbandry) in Bojonegoro, East Java. These activities are coordinated by the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) IPB. The objective of this program are to improve the health services and technology-innovation animal health owned by SPR in the Bojonegoro district supervised by IPB.
 
The doctor on duty in the Bojonegoro district will serve for the community for five days, and they  will serve three SPR-IPB, namely District Kasiman, Kedung Adem, and Temayang. Their primary mission is to provide animal health care (diagnosis, treatment, and consultation) and also to collect  basic data as an indicator of the success of SPR development. To carry out their jobs in the fields, they will coordinate with the Department of Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Services of Bojonegoro.
 
SPR IPB is one LPPM successful program to be adopted by national program through the Directorate General of Livestock and Animal Health, Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia. SPR IPB has been widespread in Indonesia, 11 SPR have been established and are supervised by IPB since its initial formulation in 2013. The total number of SPR will be growing as a number of Pemerintah Daerah (Pemda local governments) expressed their willingness to develop SPR under the supervision of IPB. Those eleven SPR are as follows: 3 SPR in Bojonegoro, 1 SPR in Jombang, 1 SPR in Musi Banyuasin, South Sumatra, 1 SPR in Banyuasin, 1 SPR in OKI, 1 SPR in Barito Kuala, 1 SPR in Tasikmalaya, 1 SPR in Pekalongan,  and 1 SPR Sumbawa.
 
IPB SPR is a field station (laboratorium) of IPB located in various regions in Indonesia, thus they will improve quality of the educational process of IPB and for other universities as well. It is possible that the assignment of veterinarians in Bojonegoro’s SPR will be re-implemented periodically in the near future. The successful of their jobs, even attract  other SPR IPB to utilize their services in their own region. (Wied)
