Graduate School Students of IPB Expose Bogor City Walk Tuesday, June 23, 2015

 

At the end of Even Semester of 2014/2015 academic year, the Graduate School students of Landscape Architecture Program of Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) made a presentation in the presence of the Mayor of Bogor and Regional Working Units (SKPD) related. This presentation, aimed to present the concept of an ideal landscape arrangement, is delivered in Bogor City Hall, Wednesday (17/6).

 

"As usual at the end of the semester, we present ideas. Who knows the idea that we propose can be applied. Even if it is implemented, we do this as an exercise so that we are not like the ivory tower," said Coordinator of Sustainable Landscape Management Course, Prof. Dr. Arifin Susilo Hadi.

 

In this presentation, the students expose their works entitled "Bogor City Walk: Towards Mantab (comfortable, orderly and suitable) Pedestrian". The concept conveyed is the utilization and development of sidewalks designed and managed in harmony with green open space (trees, shrubs, bushes, herbs, grass) and blue open space (garden ponds, fountains, drainage). The focus of the idea initiated covers the sidewalks in Central Bogor from Bogor Railway Station, Jl. Captain Muslihat, Jl. Ir. H Juanda, Jl. Sudirman, Jl. Pengadilan, Jl. Dewi Sartika and Jl. Nyi Raja Permas. 

 

Bogor Mayor, Dr. Bima Arya respond positively of the ideas presented. "I always said that ideas are given roots in order to socially supported and funded in order to come into effect. I hope if these ideas are appropriate, they can be implemented immediately," he explained.

 

Hopefully with this management, the role and comfort of sidewalks are not only for humans as road users, but also for vegetation and urban wildlife such as birds, insects, butterflies, dragonflies, squirrels, chameleons, fish and so on. It is expected to support the concept of ecological networks. (Mtd).
