National Seminar and Book Launch Celebrating 70 years of Prof. Bungaran Saragih
Agribusiness Department of the Faculty of Economics and Management Bogor Agricultural University (IPB FEM) held a "National Seminar and Book Launch" to commemorate the 70 Years of Prof. Dr. Bungaran Saragih, an Emeritus Professor of the Department of Agribusiness, Saturday (18/4). The event with the theme "Crystallization of Sustainability Paradigm in Economic Development and Higher Education" was held at IPB International Convention Center (IICC), Bogor.
Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs Prof. Dr Yonny Koesmaryono in his speech, said, "This activity is organized as a token of appreciation to Prof. Bungaran Saragih. On the occasion of this anniversary not only is the usual celebration carried out but also a national seminar and a launch of the book by an agribusiness expert. There is harmony between the concept of agribusiness and IPB, in which agriculture is market-oriented, not only production”.
In the same place, the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Agriculture, Ir. Hari Priyono, MS representing the Minister of Agriculture said that Indonesia as a driver of the national economy with its challenges has been supported by the ideas of Prof. Bungaran on paradigm system and agribusiness.
The activity continued with the presentation of reflection "Crystallization of Agribusiness Paradigm in Economic Development and Higher Education". The reflection on agribusiness research is delivered by Prof. Dr Achmad Suryana as a representative of the researchers in the field of agribusiness. The media or journalists session is presented by Ir. Ninuk R. Pambudy, M.Si as a senior reporter. The business session is delivered by Ir. Derom Bangun as Chairman of the Indonesian Palm Oil Board, the bureaucracy and development sessions by Drs. Marzuki Usman, MA (former Minister of State for Investment), and the last session of agribusiness education by Dr. Krisnamurthi (Lecturer of FEM IPB).
The book launch covered four titles: Evolution of Higher Education Agribusiness in Indonesia, Agribusiness Economics of Palm Oil; Voice of Agribusiness 2, and Implemeting Agribusiness Paradigm: 70 Years of Prof. Bungaran Saragih. After the book launching, Prof. Bungaran delivered his scientific speech.
Prof. Bungaran delivered the offer of economic development paradigm to realize Nawacita or the nine priorities of the government by Joko Widodo and Jusuf Kalla. "The paradigm we are offering is the development of business systems and competitive, community-based, sustainable, and decentralized agribusiness. This involves subsystems of upstream agribusiness, on-farm agribusiness, downstream agribusiness and agribusiness service providers," said Prof. Bungaran.
The event was attended by hundreds of participants consisting of officials, leaders of major companies engaged in agribusiness, socio-economics ecturers, and agribusiness students. (Mtd)
