Barracuda 3 of FPIK-IPB Takes Part in Boat RC Deconbotion Monday, March 09, 2015

Department of Fisheries Resource Utilization, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (PSP-FPIK), Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) successfully placed a team of Boat Modeling Club with Remote Control ship named Barracuda 3 in the competition Boat RC Deconbotion 2015. The event, organized by the Student Association of Boat Engineering (HMTK, Faculty of Engineering, University of Diponegoro, is a closure to the series of annual PINISI event.

Although the Study Program of PSP is directed more to the catch fisheries, it does not reduce its motivation to compete in the shipbuilding technology, in terms of both design and engine technology. Barracuda 3 is the 3rd generation of boats from Boat Modeling Club of PSP IPB launched for racing and design competition. Previously there were Barracuda 1 and 2 in 2013 winning the 2nd and 3rd positions in the same category of championship, Roboboat in ITS, Surabaya.

The race, on January 10, 2015, involved 42 ship teams from various universities in Indonesia. Barracuda 3 team was able to finish the race twice as required for each team. This team consists of three persons, namely, Harun Ar Rosyid, Mas Fariz Fitriyana and Syiffa Safiyah.

With the guidance of the senior members of Boat Modeling Club PSP IPB and Supervisor Yopi Novita, Barracuda 3 managed to occupy the 7th position of 42 other vessels with the covering time of 1 minute 33.54 seconds. This becomes a morale booster for the members of other Boat Modeling Clubs to continue to develop and compete in the next competition. (Mtd)
