The Visit of Students and teachers of SMAN 3, Denpasar, Bali, to IPB

Students and teachers of SMAN (State High School) 3, Denpasar, Bali, visited Bogor Agricultural University (IPB), on Thursday, 5 December 2013. The reception of the group was held at the Andi Hakim Nasution Auditorium, Dramaga Campus. On behalf of the  Principal of SMAN 3 Denpasar, Bali, Ketut Arya Putra expressed that the objective of the visit to IPB was observe directly the leading universities (PTN) in Indonesia.  IPB is not the only target of visit, but they also planned to visit other universities such as Institute of Technology (ITS), University of Airlangga (UNAIR), Gadjah Mada University (UGM) and University of Indonesia (UI).

 

The Head of Public Relations, Law Office, and Promotion of IPB, Ms. Siti Nuryati, S.TP, M.Si stated that the agriculture study is not limited to plant, harvesting and selling the agricultural products only. But, basically  it is to generate innovation and technology to promote agriculture. "For example, how an agricultural products such as chili will be adjusted to certain level of its heat. Of course, it won’t be able to implemented by traditional farmers who never got to schools. Such innovation and technology will only be achieved through study at agricultural institutions, "said Nuryati. The visit hopefully will increase  the SMAN 3 Denpasar, Bali, students’ interest to pursue their study to IPB. (Wied).
