The Success Story of Author of 9 Summers 10 Autumns
Ir. IwanSetiawan did not expect to be a famous writer when he presented his life story that inspires many people. Born in Batu, Malang, East Java, he shared his success story in the Stadium General for new students of the golden anniversary (Batch 50) in Campus Dramaga IPB, Bogor, on 19 June 2013.
The writer was born in Batu, on 2December 1974. He was student of the year 1997of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural ScienceIPB, Department of Statistics. Iwan had worked for three years in Jakarta as a data analyst at Nielsen and Danareksa Research Institute. He further expanded his career in New York City for 10 years. Lover of yoga, literature and theater arts is leaving New York in June 2010, and his last position was as Director of Internal Client Management at Nielsen Consumer Research, New York.
9 Summers 10 Autumns was his a first novel that had been inspired by his life story as the son of a driver in Batu and later he had successfully got his career in New York City. Iwan currently lives inBatu, East Java. In his presentation Iwanrequested students of the golden anniversary to be outstanding students. "Students ofIPB of the golden anniversary should be intellect and have broad minded, you shouldn’t be average students, but you must be outstanding students," he said again. Iwan in his intellectual style and slang presented his messages with the communicative languages makes the students did not move from his seat.
There were 8 requests delivered by Iwan to students of golden anniversary (batch 50) namely, as students of IPBthey must have intellectual, should have reading habits, love to write, go international in their minds, dynamic, should learn to debate elegantly, should be able express ideas easily, and hard work. "Do not be afraid, try it first," was the message delivered to students IPBby Iwan, quoting the message from his mother.
In addition to Iwan, the Studium General also featured another Alumni IPBwho has success story, i.e., Setiawan Budi Susilo,S.Pt. Budi wasthe graduate of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry IPB who has successful run Ranch-based entrepreneurship. Budi also delivered tips to be successful namely: confident, hard work, evaluationandpatient.(Wied).
