IPB University Inaugurates a 120 kW Fast Charging Public Electric Vehicle Charging Station at the Dramaga Campus
As part of its 63rd anniversary celebrations, IPB University inaugurated a Public Electric Vehicle Charging Station (SPKLU) in the Bank BNI area of the Dramaga Campus in Bogor on Tuesday (9/8).
This facility is the result of a collaboration between IPB University, PT PLN (Persero), and PT Usaha Cuan Indonesia (UCI) to support the development of the electric vehicle ecosystem while creating a more environmentally friendly and sustainable campus.
There are two DC ultra fast charging units, each with a capacity of 120 kW. This facility enables faster charging of electric vehicles, thereby supporting the mobility of the academic community and the general public passing through the Dramaga area.
IPB University’s Vice Rector for Global Connectivity, Collaboration, and Alumni Relations, Prof Iskandar Z. Siregar, expressed his appreciation to the partners who have supported the establishment of this facility.
“First and foremost, I’d like to express my appreciation for the efforts to set up infrastructure on campus to make our operations easier. We consider how every spot at IPB can be useful, especially since students, faculty, and staff spend a significant amount of time on campus,” he said.
According to Prof Iskandar, the EV charging station is also part of IPB University’s commitment to implementing a green campus and developing the campus as a “living laboratory.” He emphasized that collaboration is key to establishing infrastructure that supports the energy transition.
“We hope this facility can be put to good use and serve as a concrete step toward a more environmentally friendly and sustainable transportation ecosystem,” he said.
A representative from PLN UP3 Bogor, Grahaita Gumelar, said that charging a single vehicle at this SPKLU takes about 30–40 minutes, depending on the condition of the vehicle and the battery.
“Having this EV charging station here is very helpful, especially since there aren’t many EV charging stations available along the route from Bogor City to Leuwiliang,” she explained.
Speaking on behalf of PT Usaha Cuan Indonesia, Stephen Setiawan added that the station is also equipped with a protection system to enhance the safety and reliability of the charging process.
He said the facility symbolizes the collaboration between universities, state-owned enterprises, and the private sector in supporting Indonesia’s future journey toward net-zero emissions.
The presence of the EV charging station at the IPB Dramaga Campus is expected to further support the campus ecosystem in terms of energy transition, sustainable mobility, and an eco friendly lifestyle. (AS) (IAAS/STD)
