IPB University and the University of Melbourne Launch Dual Degree Program

IPB University and the University of Melbourne, Australia, have launched a Dual Degree Program linking IPB University’s Master of Science in Agribusiness program with the University of Melbourne’s Master of Agricultural Sciences program.

The program was launched during a joint seminar titled “Building Science and Agribusiness Partnership: Dual Perspectives, One Future,” held at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Economics and Management (FEM) at IPB University’s Dramaga Campus on Thursday, (8/20).

The Dean of IPB University’s FEM, Prof Irfan Syauqi Beik, stated that the launch of this program is part of efforts to strengthen academic cooperation between the two universities, particularly in the fields of science and agribusiness.

“The Joint Seminar also serves as the launch of the Dual Degree Program, an educational collaboration linking IPB University’s Master of Sciences in Agribusiness with The University of Melbourne’s Master of Agricultural Sciences,” he said.

He further noted that this program is expected to open up broader opportunities for students to gain cross border academic experience, broaden their scientific perspectives, and build international networks to address various future challenges in the agriculture and agribusiness sectors.

Prof Moira O’Bryan, Dean of the Faculty of Science at the University of Melbourne, expressed her deep appreciation for this event in her remarks. She noted that the event opens opportunities for collaboration in fostering connections between science, agriculture, and agribusiness.

The exchange of perspectives between the two universities is a crucial component in fostering collaboration that is not only focused on academic capacity building but also on addressing challenges in the agricultural sector in a more innovative and multidisciplinary manner.

Prof Willa Huston and Dr Nia Rosiana presented an overview of the Dual Degree Program. This session provided an overview of the program, including its academic aspects and the opportunities available to students through their learning experiences at both institutions of higher education.

The launch of the Dual Degree Program between IPB University and the University of Melbourne also represents a concrete step toward expanding international opportunities for students and strengthening institutional ties between the two universities.

The panel discussion featured several academics from both institutions, Dr Antanas Spokevicius, Assoc Prof Dorin Gupta, and Dr Yanti Nuraeni Muflikh with Dr Anisa Dwi Utami serving as moderator. Under the theme “Dual Perspectives, One Future,” this Joint Seminar emphasized the importance of building a shared perspective through diverse academic strengths.

With academic programs and forums such as this, IPB University and the University of Melbourne are expected to continue developing collaboration in the fields of education, research, academic exchange, and innovation to address challenges in agriculture and agribusiness at both the national and global levels.
