In an effort to strengthen the development of productive waqf for education, the Waqf and Social Fund Unit (UWDS) of IPB University, the Animal Science Alumni Association (Hanter), and PT Trimegah Sekuritas have launched the Waqf Mutual Fund Scholarship.

At the inauguration ceremony, Prof Iskandar Z. Siregar, Vice Rector for Global Connectivity and Alumni Relations at IPB University, stated that this program is intended to support and assist with the educational expenses of students in the Faculty of Animal Science.

In attendance were UWDS Director, Prof Alla Asmara and Hanter Chairman, Aif Arifin Sidhik, SPt, MSc. Additionally, a cooperation agreement was signed between UWDS and the Dompet Dhuafa Republika Foundation for the development of productive livestock waqf through investment in the construction of cattle barns in the Integrated Agricultural Waqf Area (KWPT), which is managed by a trustee from IPB University.

During the talk show session, the speakers shared various perspectives on the development of productive waqf and social investment opportunities through waqf mutual funds. The presentation was delivered by Hasbie Sukaton, SE (PT Trimegah Sekuritas) and Prof Irfan Syauqi Beik (Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Management, IPB). The discussion was moderated by Dr Iyep Komala.

The event also included a waqf fundraising session. The program successfully raised Rp3.000.000.000 in waqf contributions from participants, alumni, and partners in attendance. This achievement marks an important step in strengthening the productive waqf ecosystem at IPB University while also improving access to education for students.

It is hoped that this program will serve as a model for strategic collaboration between universities, alumni, and industry partners in creating tangible and sustainable social impact for the advancement of higher education in Indonesia. (*/Rz) (IAAS/EXC)
