IPB Goes to Google Apps  Overview

What is IPB Goes to Google Apps?

IPB Goes to Google Apps  is the name of Bogor Agricultural University's (IPB) installation of Google Apps for Education, a suite of online software applications that Google offers to educational institutions and non-profit organizations. The package includes Gmail (Google's email program), Web-based word processing and spreadsheet programs, sharable calendars, chat, and more.

IPB Goes to Google Apps  account allows students to take advantage of Gmail, with its 25 gigabytes of storage, in an ad-free environment, while maintaining their ID-SIPB@student.ipb.ac.id email name.

Students may sign up for a Google Apps at ID-SIPB account even if they already have a personal Gmail account. IPB Goes to Google Apps account is a separate account that does not affect existing Gmail accounts.

Who is eligible?

IPB Goes to Google Apps  is available for Lecturers, Staffs, and active IPB students (IPB Community).

How does it work?

IPB Community will need to use their ID-SIPB password to log into Google’s web-based applications through the IPB Captive Portal gateway, or authentication system. Students will need to use a separate Google password to access their new Gmail account through a mobile device or an email program like Outlook.

Once IPB Community have activated their Google Apps at ID-SIPB accounts, they will be able to select which Google’s services they wish to use. IPB Community who prefer to keep their email at ID-SIPB but wish to use Google's word-processing or spreadsheet software may open Google Apps at ID-SIPB accounts without moving their email to Gmail.
