Participating in the Rame-Rame Pasar Hijau Event, IPB’s Peta Loka Clinic Offers Consultation Services for Plants and Pets
The IPB University Peta Loka Clinic participated in the Rame-Rame Pasar Hijau event in Bogor, organized by the People’s Coalition for Food Sovereignty (KRKP) in collaboration with Pro 2 FM RRI Bogor, on Saturday, (9/26), at Dieu Geura Art in Bogor.
During the event, IPB University provided two services: the Plant Clinic and the Animal Health Clinic. At the Peta Loka Clinic booth, the public could consult directly with students from the Department of Plant Protection and the School of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at IPB University, who served as facilitators, regarding issues related to plants, urban farming, and the health of their beloved pets.
“The Peta Loka Clinic is one of the community outreach services we’ve established to bring IPB University’s knowledge and expertise closer to the public,” said Bonjok Istiaji, SP, MSi, Assistant for Agricultural and Fisherfolk Development at the Institute for Agromaritime Development and Innopreneurship Acceleration (LPA2I) at IPB University.
“Through activities like the Rame-Rame Pasar Hijau, the public can consult directly about the problems they face, whether related to plants or their beloved pets. We strive to make the expertise available at IPB University accessible through services that are closer to and more easily accessible by the public,” said Bonjok.
At the Animal Health Clinic, two visitors namely Dheva and Agil from Salam Aid sought advice regarding their cat’s skin and oral health. The consultation was conducted to ensure the pet’s well being, even though there were no specific complaints or health issues.
“Activities like this are very helpful because people can consult directly about their pets conditions,” said Dheva.
Meanwhile, at the Plant Clinic, Nelia from the Earthcare Foundation sought advice regarding the soil conditions in her backyard in Jakarta, where she had planted crops several times but had not achieved optimal growth.
In addition to providing consultations, facilitators introduced the Peta Loka Clinic and the IPB Digitani platform to visitors to expand public access to knowledge-based information, consultations, and guidance.
Interactions with visitors also opened opportunities for follow-up guidance. Several communities, including fisheries and urban farming groups, expressed interest in hosting a Peta Loka Clinic visit at their locations.
According to Bonjok, the presence of the Peta Loka Clinic at the Rame-Rame Pasar Hijau event in Bogor is part of IPB University’s efforts to expand public access to university knowledge and expertise.
Through its in-person consultation services, Klinik Peta Loka serves not only as a platform for sharing information but also as a space for interaction among the public, communities, students, and experts to identify the needs and challenges faced on the ground. (*/Rz) (IAAS/KQA)
