IPB University Vocational School’s PSM D’Voice Wins Two Gold Medals at International JICF 2026

The Student Choir (PSM) of IPB University’s Vocational School (SV), D’Voice, has achieved a brilliant result by bringing home two gold medals from the Jakarta International Choir Festival (JICF) 2026. This prestigious international competition was held at Taman Ismail Marzuki (TIM), Central Jakarta, recently.

The two gold medals were won in the Mixed Adult category and the Sacred, Gospel, and Spiritual category. In the Mixed Adult category, D’Voice performed the songs Cikala Le Pong Pong and Selig Sind die Toten. In the Sacred, Gospel, and Spiritual category, the team sang Angele Dei and Exsultate Deo.

“This achievement is very special for us because it is D’Voice’s first international gold medal after not joining competitions for the past four years,” said Azizah Verda Syamila, Chairperson of D’Voice, IPB University’s Vocational School.

Azizah explained that this success did not come instantly. D’Voice prepared hard for about eight months, starting from December 2025. Practice sessions became more frequent in the last two months before the competition day. Under the guidance of their conductor and coach, Asep Arianto, the members made up of students and alumni were trained to have a winning mindset.

“He pushed us to keep growing and to change our mindset that we can’t stay ‘newcomers’ forever, but need to have a fighting spirit to win,” said Azizah, talking about the coach’s role behind D’Voice’s great achievement.

Even though this year’s competition was mostly filled with groups from various provinces in Indonesia, the judging standards remained strict, done by an international jury panel from the United States, Singapore, China, and Indonesia.

During the Meet the Jury session, Azizah shared that D’Voice received special praise. The judges gave positive remarks on the male voice section, which performed very well on stage. Beyond that, the warmth and emotional dynamics in the songs they performed both the soft, flowing ones and the powerful ones came across well to the judges.

Azizah hopes that winning two gold medals at JICF will become a turning point for D’Voice to strengthen its presence again and regain trust from the institution and outside parties. This Digital Communication and Media student at IPB University’s Vocational School stressed that this achievement is not the end, but a milestone to keep improving in the future.

“After succeeding at JICF 2026, we will prepare for our annual concert, planned for this coming August. The concert will be open to the public and is expected to be a chance for all D’Voice members to show their talent,” said Azizah. (MHT)(IAAS/ST)
