IPB University’s Veterinary Medicine Program Ranks in the Top 100 of the QS World University Rankings by Subject: Veterinary Science
IPB University has once again achieved a remarkable feat on the global stage. Having previously secured a spot among the world’s top institutions in Agriculture and Forestry (ranked 48th globally in this field), IPB University has now solidified its position through its achievement in Veterinary Science, breaking into the world’s Top 100 in the 2026 QS World University Rankings (QS WUR) by Subject.
This marks IPB University’s debut in the global rankings for Veterinary Science, immediately propelling it into the Top 100. This achievement reflects global recognition of IPB University’s academic and research capabilities in veterinary science, which are increasingly relevant in the era of food security and global health ecosystems.
Furthermore, this success also reflects IPB University’s tangible contribution to supporting the One Health approach. A concept that integrates human, animal, and environmental health in a sustainable manner.
Rector Dr Alim Setiawan Slamet emphasized that this achievement is not merely a number but concrete proof that IPB University’s investments in research, human resource development, and strategic partnerships are on the right track.
He stated, “We are proud and increasingly motivated to keep moving forward to make tangible contributions to health and sustainable development. Health is one of the key sciences for the future.”
“This global recognition further solidifies IPB University’s position as a wide-open gateway for anyone seeking world-class higher education in veterinary medicine,” said the Rector.
The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at IPB University is the oldest veterinary education institution in Indonesia, with roots dating back to 1910. Officially established as part of IPB University in 1963, it transformed into the School of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences (SKHB) in 2021 to strengthen biomedical sciences.
The QS WUR by Subject evaluates universities based on four key indicators: international academic reputation, employer reputation, research citation index, and H-index—which collectively reflect an institution’s scientific quality and impact.
“IPB University is committed to continuously improving the quality of research, learning, and community service, with a vision of becoming a world-class university that makes a tangible contribution to the progress of the nation and global civilization. IPB University continues to demonstrate excellence in scientific publications, international collaboration, and the relevance of its research to global issues such as food security, climate change, and animal health,” said the Rector.
