IPB University welcomes dozens of new lecturers selected through the 2025 recruitment process. Out of a total of 505 applicants, 56 were accepted and will join IPB University as permanent non-civil servant lecturers.

IPB University Rector, Dr Alim Setiawan Slamet, expressed his appreciation to the lecturers who successfully passed the selection process. “Congratulations to the lecturers who have passed a very competitive selection process. Out of approximately 505 applicants, only 56 were accepted. This ratio is almost the same as the strictness of the selection process for new students at IPB,” he said.

“For us, lecturer recruitment is not merely an administrative process. It is a strategic process to determine the future quality of IPB, as lecturers are the heart of the university,” he explained.

According to him, the quality of lecturers greatly determines the implementation of the three pillars of higher education, ranging from education, research, to community service, as well as being a source of leaders in the academic environment.

To new lecturers, the Rector advised them not to stop at passing the selection process. He believes that the real academic journey begins when someone takes on the role of a lecturer.

He also encouraged lecturers to become teachers who can inspire students, especially amid the development of artificial intelligence (AI) technology.

“There is a saying, the mediocre teacher tells, the good teacher explains, the superior teacher demonstrates, but the great teacher inspires. A great lecturer is one who can inspire students,” he said.

In the era of AI, according to him, the role of lecturers is no longer just to provide answers to students. “Our job is to help students formulate the right questions and develop critical thinking skills,” he said.

The rector also emphasized the importance of understanding and internalizing the academic culture of IPB University, which upholds integrity, hard work, and collaboration in carrying out the three pillars of higher education.

“Integrity is non-negotiable in the academic world. In addition, IPB lecturers are known as hard workers who are accustomed to competing in various research competitions. In the future, we must also be more collaborative because many issues cannot be resolved by one discipline alone,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Director of Human Resources (HR) at IPB University, Prof Sri Suharti, explained that this recruitment process is part of efforts to strengthen academic human resources at IPB.

“The entire process of recruiting permanent lecturers for IPB for the 2025 formation has been completed successfully. This process aims to obtain the best candidates who have academic competence, integrity, and the potential to develop the three pillars of higher education,” she said.

In the process, applicants must go through various selection stages, starting from administrative selection, basic competency selection, talent assessment, field competency selection, psychological tests, to leadership level interviews.

“This process not only increases the number of lecturers, but also builds the future academic generation of IPB who will contribute to the development of science and have a real impact on society,” he concluded. (AS) (IAAS/HNY)
