ETCI Timor Leste Rector Graduates from IPB University Engineering Program
The IPB University Graduate School (SPs) once again held the 8th Professional Engineer Program (PPI) Oath Taking Ceremony. A total of 24 graduates officially took their oaths in a solemn and meaningful ceremony.
The event was attended by Vice Chairman of the Indonesian Engineers Association (PII) Prof Agus Taufik Mulyono, Dean of the IPB Graduate School Prof Yusli Wardiatno, Vice Dean of SPs for Resources, Cooperation and Development Dr Perdinan, and Chairman of the PPI Study Program Prof Muhammad Romli.
The graduates came from various engineering fields, namely Agriculture and Agricultural Products (7 people), Animal Husbandry (2 people), Forestry (1 person), Agricultural Industry (3 people), Fisheries and Marine Affairs (1 person), and Civil and Environmental Engineering (10 people). With this addition, the total number of engineers who have taken their oath since the first batch has reached 780 people.
One of the graduates of the 8th batch came from Timor Leste, namely the Rector of the East Timor Coffee Institute (ETCI), Eng Lucio Marcal Gomes, MEngAgron. His presence was a tangible symbol of the strengthening international network of the IPB Professional Engineer Program.
In his remarks, the Dean of SPs IPB emphasized that the swearing-in of engineers is a strategic moment in strengthening the foundation for national transformation towards Indonesia Emas 2045.
“Indonesia needs engineers who are not only technically superior, but also capable of designing systems, driving innovation, and providing sustainable solutions to challenges in food, energy, the environment, and infrastructure,” he said.
He further stated that IPB University has designated 2026 as the year of “Global Engagement,” which involves strengthening international collaboration, increasing global visibility, and expanding academic and professional networks at the regional and global levels. The inauguration of engineers involving participants from Timor Leste is part of the practical implementation of this strategic agenda.
IPB University positions itself as a center of excellence for life based and sustainable engineering in the ASEAN region, with strengths in the tropical agriculture, food, marine, forestry, bioindustry, and environmental engineering sectors.
Through the Professional Engineer Program, IPB University is committed to producing globally competitive, ethical professional engineers who are capable of contributing not only to national development but also to strengthening regional capacity.
