The Independent Volunteer Action of the IPB University Alumni Association (ARM HA) in collaboration with the Regional Executive Board (DPD) of HA IPB West Sumatra has completed the construction of water facilities and infrastructure in the form of installing 1 kilometer of HDPE or high density polyethylene pipe connections for 200 houses in Nagari Salareh Aia Timur, Pelambayan District, Agam Regency, West Sumatra, Friday (1/9).

In addition to the pipes, ARM HA IPB also provided a water reservoir tank (toren) with a capacity of 3.300 liters. These clean water facilities and infrastructure can now be enjoyed by 200 families (approximately 1.300 people) who were previously affected by the flood disaster in West Sumatra in November 2025.

The Secretary General of ARM HA IPB, Ir Agus Rusli, MM, accompanied by a member of the ARM HA IPB Advisory Board, Ir H Ali Fatoni, symbolically handed over the installation to the Wali Nagari Salareh Aia Timur, Ahmad Fauzi, accompanied by the Chair of the DPD HA IPB West Sumatra, Yozarwardi Usama Putra, SHut, MSi, IPU.

“With the completion of this 1-kilometer clean water pipeline, 200 houses, 1 health center, 2 mosques, and 5 prayer rooms can now enjoy access to clean water,” said Agus Rusli. He hopes that these facilities and infrastructure can be managed and maintained properly by the residents of Salareh Aia Timur so that they can continue to be used.

The Wali Nagari of Salareh Aia Timur, Ahmad Fauzi, expressed his gratitude for the assistance and initiative of ARM HA IPB in repairing the water pipe network. This is because the water supply from the Community Based Drinking Water and Sanitation Provision (PAMSIMAS) and the drains in front of each resident’s house were cut off after the disaster.

One of the survivors, Rika, whose house was washed away by the flood and now lives in a refugee tent, said that the availability of water connections and taps in front of the refugee area was very helpful for the survivors.

Rika, who lost two cousins in the disaster, said that it is now easier for them to access water for bathing, washing, and other needs. “Now my child can take a bath and is eager to go back to school,” she said.

Meanwhile, the Chair of the West Sumatra DPD HA IPB, Yozarwardi, expressed his appreciation for the quick response of ARM HA and IPB alumni through their concrete actions. He also thanked the Drinking Water and Sanitation Facility Management Group (KPSPAMS), Brimob, and the beneficiary community who worked together to install the tower and HDPE pipes.

This water pipeline project is the second phase of work, following ARM HA IPB’s previous assistance in completing the installation of 600 meters of HDPE pipes for residents in Nagari Salareh Aia, which neighbors Salareh Aia Timur. The construction of these facilities and infrastructure was carried out with the full support of the Endowment and Social Fund Unit (UWDS) of IPB University and various partners, including Baitulmal Muamalat (BMM).
