IPB University Inaugurates Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Rector Appoints Interim Dean
IPB University has officially established the Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FTT). This information was conveyed directly by Rector Dr Alim Setiawan when he inaugurated Prof Dr Slamet Budijanto as the Interim Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FTT) at the Andi Hakim Nasution Rectorate Building, Dramaga Campus, Bogor (12/31).
The Rector said that IPB University had established FTT as a new faculty, which was a transformation of the Faculty of Agricultural Technology (Fateta) and the School of Engineering (ST). All study programs will continue as before, with the same scientific competencies, curriculum, lecturers, and learning processes. The changes made are institutional and administrative in nature, particularly in faculty management, without changing the academic substance.
He added that this institutional transformation of FTT is a long journey that must be undertaken to find the most optimal institutional form for the development of science, engineering, and agricultural technology at IPB University.
He appreciated the active role of all stakeholders involved in the discussion and provision of input during the transformation process. “Thank you to the Faculty Senate and the Academic Senate of IPB University for approving and facilitating this institutional change. The existence of engineering in the Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FTT) will strengthen the scientific foundation while also serving as a bridge between science and technology, as well as opening up broader opportunities for collaboration,” he said.
The Rector emphasized that the main mandate of FTT remains focused on agromaritime and tropical bioscience, considering that agriculture and food are strategic interests of the nation and global needs in the future. He also emphasized the importance of orderly administrative support, strong data management, adequate infrastructure, and a service-oriented work culture.
In addition to the Dean, four other structural officials within the FTT were also inaugurated today. They are the Chair of Administration, Chair of Education, Student Affairs and Alumni, Chair of Data Management and Infrastructure, Chair of Finance, Human Resources and General Affairs. Two Administrative and General Services Supervisors (PAU) were also inaugurated, one for the Directorate of Agromaritime Community Development and one for the Research Ethics Committee.
On this occasion, the Rector reiterated that this inauguration was a momentum to strengthen leadership, institutional governance, and accelerate the transformation of IPB University so that it would have a greater impact on society, the nation, and the world. “Every position is a mandate that must be carried out with integrity, exemplary behavior, and a spirit of service. Leadership in higher education requires a moral commitment to serve and provide benefits, not just a formal position,” he explained.
Closing his remarks, the Rector conveyed three main messages to the newly appointed officials, namely to maintain integrity, build collaboration, and be present to serve. He invited the entire IPB University academic community to close 2025 with gratitude for the institution’s various achievements. Additionally, he encouraged all campus elements to welcome 2026 with enthusiasm, optimism, and dedication to provide greater benefits for the nation and state. (dr) (IAAS/RWA)
