For micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), good products are not necessarily easily recognized by the market without the right marketing strategy.

Addressing this need, IPB University is supporting SMEs in Tanggamus District, Lampung, through digital marketing training and institutional strengthening under the Homecoming Lectures (Dospulkam) program.

A total of 26 food and beverage SMEs, ranging from palm sugar, chips, cakes, to catering services, participated in this training. The materials were based on digital marketing modules from the National Committee for Sharia Economics and Finance, tailored to the characteristics of food products mostly produced by the participants.

Team leader Dr Ahyar Ismail explained that this activity is part of an ongoing mentoring program. “We designed this program holistically. After assisting with halal certification in 2023 and BPOM and PIRT permits in 2024, it is now time to focus on marketing aspects.”

“Product legality and quality must be supported by strong digital marketing capabilities in order to expand market reach,” he emphasized.

He and his team (Danang Pramudita, SP, MSi, Tursina Andita Putri, SE, MSi, Hardiana Widyastuti, SHut, MM) also emphasized the importance of support from the local government, particularly the Tanggamus Regency Cooperative, MSME, Industry and Trade Office and the Talang Padang Subdistrict, in ensuring the sustainability of the program.

The training session covered mapping digital market potential, consumer segmentation on social media, and effective promotion strategies. Participants not only received materials but also had hands-on practice creating marketing content using the Canva application.

The program also involved entrepreneurial students from the Mindset Ngedit team participating in the IPB University Student Entrepreneurship Development Program (P2MW).

As a follow up, the implementing team will provide further guidance in the form of content calendar planning and promotional poster design to the three SMEs with the best ideas during the training.

Through this program, IPB University reaffirms its role as a strategic partner for the region in driving Tanggamus SMEs to become more adaptive, competitive, and sustainable in the digital economy era. (*/Rz) (IAAS/ASY)
