SBY Recommends IPB University Establish School of Prosperity and Sustainability to Lead Global Agenda
The 6th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prof Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), recommended that IPB University establish a School of Prosperity and Sustainability as a strategic step to take on a global leadership role in unifying the agenda of prosperity and sustainability.
SBY conveyed this recommendation when receiving the Super Alumni Prominent award at the Top 100 IPB Prominent Alumni awarding ceremony during the IPB Alumni Homecoming 2025 event held at the Graha Widya Wisuda Building, IPB Dramaga Campus, Bogor, on Wednesday (12/18).
In his acceptance speech, SBY emphasized his commitment to continue doing his best for his alma mater, Indonesia, and the world.
“I will be accountable for this award and, insyaallah I will continue to do something for my beloved alma mater, do something for our beloved country Indonesia, and do something for a better world,” said SBY.
SBY also reminisced about his studies at IPB University while pursuing his Doctorate in Agricultural Economics at the Graduate School.
He explained that the direction of national development policies he implemented while serving as President stemmed from his doctoral dissertation, which focused on reducing poverty and unemployment through agricultural and rural development.
“The paradigm of sustainable growth with equity, pro-growth, pro-job, pro-poor, and pro-environment has now become a global agenda,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Rector of IPB University, Dr Alim Setiawan Slamet, said that the Top 100 Prominent Alumni award is a form of institutional appreciation for alumni who have made real contributions to society, the nation, and the world.
He emphasized that alumni are representatives of IPB University in various strategic sectors. “The achievements of our alumni show that the knowledge instilled at IPB has grown and had a broad impact,” he said.
