IPB University continues to strengthen digital learning transformation as part of future education development. Director of Education Transformation and Learning Technology (DTPTP), Prof Yulin Lestari, explained that digital education requires a new approach that is oriented towards student independence.

Heutagogy and cybergogy approaches are considered to be the standard for learning in the future. The concept of heutagogy encourages students to determine the direction of their learning independently, while cybergogy integrates this learning pattern into a flexible digital ecosystem.

According to her, strengthening digital literacy, analytical skills, creativity, and lifelong learning abilities are important foundations for IPB University graduates who want to compete at the global level.

“Today’s students are digital natives. Technology is not meant to take the place of lecturers, but for us to manage wisely so that we can improve the quality of learning,” said Prof Yulin during the Sharing Session “Gogies Series: Heutagogy, Cybergogy, and EdTech Integration” (11/28).

On the other hand, IPB University Vice Rector for Education and Student Affairs, Prof Deni Noviana, emphasized that lecturers have a strategic role in shaping students’ character, creativity, and competitiveness.

He said that an educator not only imparts knowledge but also provides inspiration and encouragement to develop.

“Being a lecturer is not just about delivering material, but also providing motivation and innovation. If the lecturer is not creative, how can the students be creative?”

He added that integrity is a foundation that must be maintained in the teaching process. Commitment to academic duties, according to him, is a reflection of an educator’s professionalism.

“Only a call from the President can cancel classes. Other than that, classes must continue,” he said.

Prof Deni also conveyed the importance of utilizing technology in the classroom. Accelerating the transformation of learning spaces, such as the use of smartboards and other digital facilities, is considered important so that the learning process is in line with the development of students who are increasingly adaptive to technology.
