Integration of DTSEN and Precise Village Data, IPB University and BP Taskin Strategy to Accelerate Poverty Alleviation
Data accuracy is key to the success of poverty alleviation policies. Responding to this challenge, IPB University and the Poverty Alleviation Acceleration Agency (BP Taskin) held a national seminar entitled “Integration of National Social and Economic Single Data (DTSEN) with Precise Village Data as a Basis for Micro Data Updates Towards Accelerating Poverty Alleviation”.
This activity is a strategic step in strengthening an integrated, precise, and village-based national data ecosystem. The event was held at the Abdul Muis Nasution Auditorium, IPB Dramaga Campus, Bogor (12/22).
This seminar is a follow-up to Presidential Instruction Number 4 of 2025 concerning DTSEN and Presidential Instruction Number 8 of 2025 concerning the Optimization of Poverty Alleviation and Extreme Poverty Eradication. DTSEN is positioned as the single source of truth for national socio-economic data for the formulation, implementation, and evaluation of poverty alleviation policies.
Deputy for Acceleration of Capacity Building and Access Provision at BP Taskin, Dr Novrizal Tahar, emphasized that data quality is the main foundation for the effectiveness of poverty alleviation policies.
“The integration of DTSEN with accurate village microdata enables the state to provide targeted assistance, especially to poor and extremely poor households,” he said.
He added that the success of DTSEN is largely determined by data updates down to the village and sub district levels. Accurate village data is needed to identify poor households by name and address, map spatial poverty pockets, and design interventions tailored to local needs.
From an academic perspective, Prof Rilus A Kinseng, Professor at the Faculty of Human Ecology, IPB University, emphasized that the Precision Village Data (DDP) developed by IPB is not a rival system, but rather a strategic partner of DTSEN.
“The Precision Village Data produced is more micro and verified. Its integration with DTSEN will strengthen development planning and ensure that poverty alleviation interventions are more effective and measurable,” he explained.
This national seminar featured speakers from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas, local governments, and IPB University academics. The panel discussion highlighted the role of DTSEN as national reference data, strategies for utilizing data to set poverty intervention targets, and data updating practices at the village level.
Through this forum, IPB University and BP Taskin encouraged collaboration across ministries/agencies, local governments, and universities in building an accurate, integrated, and sustainable socio-economic data system.
The integration of DTSEN and Precision Village Data is expected to serve as a strategic foundation for accelerating poverty and extreme poverty alleviation in a more equitable and targeted manner. (dh) (IAAS/NRA)
