The Association of Alumni of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPIK) or HA-C IPB University does not only make the IPB Alumni Homecoming Festival (PRA IPK) a moment for gathering and nostalgia.

Through the C-Talkshow event held on Saturday (12/20), alumni from various generations shared their views on the development of blue food. This forum also emphasized the strategic role of FPIK alumni in strengthening national food security based on blue food as a future source of protein.

The chairperson of HA-C IPB University, Ir Nunung Jamilah, in her brief remarks emphasized that HA-C is a forum for cross-generational synergy to encourage collaboration and tangible contributions from alumni.

Similarly, the dean of FPIK IPB University, Prof Fredinan Yulianda, hoped that alumni would continue to play an active role in mentoring students and bringing FPIK to the national level.

Committee Chair Dr Roza Yusfiandayani added that this event serves as a reminder of alumni’s moral responsibility toward the sustainability of the marine and fisheries sector.

From a policy perspective, I Nyoman Radiarta, who currently serves as the Agency for Extension and Human Resource Development, Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, explained the government’s commitment to strengthening human resources in the maritime and fisheries sector.

These efforts are carried out through vocational education management, community training, competency certification, and the launch of the KKP Corporate University to prepare future leaders in the marine and fisheries sector.

“KKP programs are also supported by thousands of marine extension workers who ensure that policies are accepted and implemented directly by the community,” he explained.

Meanwhile, Moh Rahmat Mulianda emphasized the urgency of blue food as the main source of protein for the community and its contribution to the national economy. Through an interactive approach, he emphasized that strengthening the fisheries sector is not only related to production, but also to the sustainability of resources and the equitable distribution of economic benefits in various regions.

From the perspective of business and innovation, Aang Permana, entrepreneur and mentor of Sipetek Food MSMEs, invited alumni to change their perspective on the fisheries business. He considered the perception that fish commodities have small margins to be a major challenge. In fact, through innovation and value addition, local fish that have been underutilized can have high economic value.

The C-Talkshow PRA IPK 2025 emphasized that blue food resilience requires the active role of alumni as connectors between policy, innovation, and field practices. Through cross-generational collaboration, FPIK IPB University alumni are expected to make tangible contributions to the future of Indonesia’s marine and fisheries sector. (Ez) (IAAS/Ard)
