The Alumni Association (HA) of IPB University has officially inaugurated the new management of the Forum Young Leader. This forum is projected to become a strategic platform for the leadership regeneration of young IPB University alumni as well as a space for strengthening networks and mentorship between alumni and students.

The presence of the Forum Young Leader is expected to prepare future leaders who are of strong character, competitive, and possess a strong commitment to their alma mater and the nation.

The General Chairman of the Central Executive Board (DPP) of HA IPB for the 2021–2025 period, Dr Walneg S Jas, emphasized his hope that the future leadership of HA IPB—10 to 12 years ahead—will be born from the Forum Young Leader.

“Ten to twelve years from now, the IPB Alumni Association must be managed by you. I pray that the future general chairperson of the IPB Alumni Association comes from here,” said Dr Walneg during the inauguration of the Forum Young Leader management at Grha Widya Wisuda, IPB Dramaga Campus (12/19), as part of the Pesta Rakyat Alumni IPB Pulang Kampus (PRA IPK).

The Forum Young Leader, he explained, brings together three main groups of HA IPB mentoring beneficiaries: alumni scholarship recipients, such as the Alumni Peduli IPB Foundation (YAPI), Alumni Golf Association (PGA), and others; Mentoring Leader and Diaspora Mentoring participants; as well as alumni of the Future Agro Leader Program (FALP). The total membership is estimated to reach 4.000–5.000 people.

“This number can shake Indonesia because their mentality and orientation are different. There has already been a touch of mentoring and support from seniors,” he said. He also emphasized the importance of grouping roles between students and alumni within the forum so that the coaching process is more directed and sustainable.

Meanwhile, the Director of Student Affairs at IPB University, Dr Beginer Subhan, expressed his appreciation for HA’s initiative in presenting a leadership development program for the younger generation.

“This forum answers how to follow up on processes that have been carried out at IPB through student affairs programs,” he said.

Dr Beginer stressed that mentorship plays an important role in accelerating the emergence of new leaders. He hopes this forum does not stop at the inauguration ceremony, but continues to be consistently guided so it has a real impact on participants and the alma mater.

Meanwhile, the Chair of the HA IPB Board of Supervisors, R Fathan Kamil, considered the formation of the Forum Young Leader as a strategic step to build a strong layer of leadership generation.

He reminded that the challenges faced by the younger generation today are increasingly complex, thus requiring an acceleration process through mentoring and intensive interaction with seniors. “We want to build a line of leaders and encourage the formation of a strong generational layer to shape civilization,” he asserted.

The inauguration of the Forum Young Leader HA IPB management marks the beginning of a new management period that is expected to carry out the mandate of structured and sustainable regeneration. Through this forum, HA IPB reaffirms its commitment to preparing a generation of young leaders who are resilient, have integrity, and are ready to contribute to IPB, society, and the Indonesian nation.
