The Indonesian Animal Science Student Association (Ismapeti) celebrated its 42nd anniversary at IPB University with a spirit of collaboration and innovation for the advancement of national animal husbandry. This national event carried the theme “Ismapeti Inspires, Animal Science Transforms”.

The event was attended by delegations from 20 animal science universities throughout Indonesia, academics, and animal husbandry industry practitioners. This momentum became a gathering place for networking, exchanging ideas, and strengthening the synergy of animal science students in facing future challenges.

The Vice Rector of IPB University for Education and Student Affairs, Prof drh Deni Noviana, expressed his appreciation for Ismapeti’s 42 years of work. According to him, this long journey shows the enthusiasm and resilience of Indonesian animal science students.

“Forty-two years is certainly not a short time. This is a long journey that demonstrates Ismapeti’s commitment to maintaining synergy among animal science students throughout Indonesia,” he said.

He added that this year’s Dies Natalis theme is relevant to the challenges facing the ever-evolving livestock sector.

“The livestock sector is now not only about production, but also digital transformation, sustainability, animal welfare, and national food security. Students must become agents of change who bring science, technology, and social values to society,” he explained.

Meanwhile, Dean of the Faculty of Animal Science at IPB University, Prof Idat Galih Permana, called the 42nd Ismapeti Anniversary an important moment to strengthen collaboration in facing national food and nutrition challenges.

“Welcome to all BEM Faculty of Animal Science delegates from various universities. It is a pleasure and an honor for us to host all of you at the IPB campus,” he said.

He highlighted the great opportunities in the world of animal husbandry through the government’s Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program. According to him, this program has the potential to increase the demand for livestock products such as meat and milk, while also posing a challenge to increase national productivity.

“The demand for livestock products will increase significantly, while milk productivity is only around 20 percent and dependence on beef imports is still 25 percent,” he said.

Prof Idat emphasized that activities such as Ismapeti serve as an important platform for honing students’ collaboration and leadership skills. He hopes that the spirit of the 42nd anniversary will strengthen networks and generate innovative ideas for the advancement of Indonesian animal husbandry.

“This event is not just a celebration, but a momentum for the young generation of animal husbandry to move forward together in building a bright future,” he concluded.

The event featured various activities such as a National Symposium, Scientific Meeting, and Charity Event for Indonesian Animal Science Students as a form of tangible contribution to society. The highlight of the event was the announcement of the winners of various competitions, including Scientific Writing, Business Plan, Infographics, Essay, and Animal Husbandry Olympiad. (Fj) (IAAS/NRA)
