Six researchers from IPB University have been named in Stanford University’s list of the World’s Top 2% Scientists Worldwide 2025. One of them is Prof Farah Fahma, a lecturer in the Department of Agricultural Industry Technology.

For Prof Farah, this achievement is a form of appreciation for collective hard work. “Alhamdulillah, I am very grateful for this award. For me, this achievement is not merely a personal achievement, but a form of appreciation for the hard work and collaboration of many parties,” she said.

She also expressed her gratitude to the research team, students, colleagues, and IPB University for creating a supportive research environment. According to her, this award serves as a reminder to continue contributing as a lecturer and researcher.

“This recognition is a reminder for me personally to continue contributing and upholding my mandate so that our existence truly benefits society and science,” she added.

Prof Farah explained that her research journey has been a long process full of learning. From the beginning, she and her team have focused on developing materials and technologies based on Indonesia’s natural resources that are environmentally friendly and have high added value.

“The fields we are engaged in are closely related to biomaterials, biopolymers, and the application of nanotechnology to support the agricultural and environmental sectors,” she explained.

In addition to scientific publications, she emphasized the importance of building networks and cross-disciplinary collaboration. “We believe that good research is research that responds to the real needs of society and has a broad impact. So, this recognition is the result of cooperation, commitment, and a spirit of innovation,” she said.

Regarding Stanford University’s assessment indicators, such as the number of citations, H-index, and global publication impact, Prof Farah believes that maintaining the quality of research begins with intention and perseverance. “We always strive to ensure that our research has a strong scientific foundation and is relevant to global issues such as sustainability and green technology innovation,” she said.

She also emphasized the importance of involving students so that they can grow into strong young researchers. “Collaboration is important, both with domestic and foreign researchers. Consistency and scientific integrity are also key,” she said.

For IPB University, this achievement demonstrates a strong and competitive research culture. “This is proof that our researchers are able to compete at the international level. This award motivates us to strengthen interdisciplinary synergy so that research results are more relevant to the needs of industry and society,” said Prof Farah.

She also advised young researchers not to focus solely on publications. “Research is not just about citations, but about its benefits to society. Enjoy every process, including failure, because that is how we grow as scientists,” she emphasized. (Fj) (IAAS/KQA)
