The Directorate of Human Resources of IPB University held the Oath/Promise Taking Ceremony for Civil Servants (PNS), Functional Positions, Government Employees with Work Agreements (PPPK), and Permanent Non-Civil Servant Lecturers.

A total of 173 employees took the oath/promise, consisting of 115 civil servants, 24 assistant expert functional officials, 8 lecturer functional officials, 16 PPPK, and 10 permanent non-civil servant lecturers.

The Rector of IPB University, Prof Arif Satria, began his remarks by congratulating the employees. “Hopefully, this will be a good start for all of you to pursue a career at IPB,” he said.

He emphasized the importance of having big dreams and a strong commitment in developing both academic and professional careers. “If you become a lecturer, you must aspire to become a professor. If you still have a master’s degree, there must be a strong effort to immediately pursue doctoral studies, especially abroad,” he said.

The Rector added that the encouragement to continue studies is not merely a personal desire, but is part of an institutional effort to maintain the sustainability and future of IPB University.

“I personally experienced how studying abroad shapes character, broadens perspectives, and fosters self-confidence,” he said.

Nevertheless, he asserted that a person’s success is not only determined by where they study, but also by personal character. “School is only the 23rd factor. What guarantees someone’s success is honesty and discipline,” he stressed.

He also reminded that lecturers must serve as role models for students. “Students have hearts. They can sense the sincerity of lecturers. Communication is not about messages, but about trust. Trust is born from integrity, capability, and the absence of personal interests,” he explained.

Furthermore, Prof Arif encouraged lecturers and educational staff to become inspirational and excellent individuals. “Lecturers who only deliver material can be replaced by AI (artificial intelligence), but inspirational lecturers will never be replaced. Inspiration is a matter of the heart,” he said.

In a warm and motivating atmosphere, Prof Arif also touched on the importance of reputation and work ethic. “Reputation is formed by actions and behavior. If we have excellence and achievements, others will perceive us positively,” he said.

At the end of his remarks, he invited the entire academic community of IPB University to encourage each other and become a source of positive energy for colleagues. “We must become the ‘battery’ for our friends, a source of energy that fosters motivation and inspiration,” he said.

“Once again, congratulations to those who have been inaugurated. I hope you are successful, healthy, and continue to dream big for a more advanced IPB University,” concluded Prof Arif. (IAAS/KMR)
