Graduate Students of IPB University Convey Family Policy Aspirations During Visit to West Java Regional Parliament
A total of 30 graduate students from IPB University conducted an academic visit to the Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) of West Java Province on Monday (11/10). The group consisted of 24 students from the Master’s Program in Family and Child Development Studies and 6 students from the Doctoral Program in Family Sciences.
The activity was part of the Project-Based Learning for the Public and Family Policy course under the supervision of Prof Euis Sunarti, Professor of IPB University and an expert in family resilience and empowerment.
The delegation was warmly received by the Deputy Chair of Commission V of the West Java DPRD, Hj Siti Muntamah, SAP, accompanied by the Chairperson of the West Java Office of Women’s Empowerment, Child Protection, and Family Planning (DP3AKB), Dr Siska Gerfianti, SpDLP, MKes, as well as a representative from the Ministry of Population and Family Development/National Population and Family Planning Board (Kemendukbangga/BKKBN), Elma Triyulianti D, SPsi, MM.
During the visit, the students enthusiastically conveyed their aspirations and academic perspectives on current issues related to family policy, family resilience, and various dynamics and challenges faced by families in West Java.
“This visit is expected to broaden students’ understanding of the policymaking process at the regional level, particularly those related to family affairs,” Prof Euis expressed.
The discussion proceeded dynamically and constructively, highlighting the importance of synergy between academics and policymakers in advancing family-friendly development.
Prof Euis also stressed the urgency of accelerating breakthroughs in family development. “Otherwise, the rate of family degradation will surpass the current efforts to strengthen families,” she noted.
