IPB University, together with the Solidarity Network of Indonesian Rural Animal Science School Alumni (SASPRI) and the Indonesian Rural Business Community Academy (SAKKURI), held a Declaration of Solidarity for Indonesian Rural Business Community Academy (SAKKURI) Alumni.

This event marked the merger of SASPRI and SAKKURI into SASPRAKKURI, as a strategic step to strengthen the agromaritime people’s empowerment movement in Indonesia. It also coincided with Heroes’ Day and the 7th anniversary of SASPRI.

The event was attended by Prof Muladno, Professor at the Faculty of Animal Science, IPB University, as the initiator of the People’s Animal Husbandry School, along with accompanying lecturers, regional partners, and alumni from various regions.

Prof Muladno emphasized that the merger of these two institutions was not merely symbolic, but a manifestation of the commitment to build an independent and sustainable people’s empowerment system.

“SASPRI and SAKKURI are siblings that share the same concepts, strategies, and approaches. Therefore, we agreed to merge them into SASPRAKKURI to be more solid in fighting for the people’s economy in the agromaritime sector,” he said.

He added that SASPRAKKURI is expected to become a forum for synergy between academics, local governments, and people’s business actors. “At a minimum, in every district, SASPRI and SAKKURI must be present and work together to build a village economic integration system,” he said.

In his speech, the Chairman of the Karya Bhakti Bumi Indonesia Foundation (YKBBI), Drs Sokhiatulo Lauli, MM, expressed his high appreciation to IPB University and the accompanying lecturers for their selfless dedication in assisting livestock and farmer communities in various regions.

“This movement has produced many alumni who are working hard in the field. The merger of SASPRI and SAKKURI is a unification of organizations and a grand vision in building national food self-sufficiency,” said Drs Lauli.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Sigi Regency Fisheries Service, Mohamad Akib, SPt, who was also present, emphasized the urgency of cross-sector collaboration in building a people-based economic system.

He believes that SASPRAKKURI is a momentum for the region to strengthen the role of the community in realizing food sovereignty.

“We hope that this program will not only be big in name, but also in its benefits to the community. With this synergy, SASPRAKKURI will expand to more regions and make a real contribution to the development of national agriculture, livestock, and fisheries,” said Akib. (dr) (IAAS/LAN)
