IPB University held the Graduation Ceremony for the Applied Bachelor and Diploma III Programs of the Vocational School, Batch I of 2025 (10/14–15) at Graha Widya Wisuda, IPB Dramaga Campus. A total of 1.211 graduates from 17 study programs officially completed their studies, ready to contribute to society with innovation, practical skills, and strong vocational character.

The ceremony began with welcoming remarks from the Rector of IPB University, Prof Arif Satria, who opened his speech with a poetic verse:

Burung elang terbang menukik,
Terlihat gagah di langit senja,
Wisudawan vokasi hebat berpraktik,
Siap terjun dengan karya nyata.

The Rector then shared the results of an internal survey conducted among prospective graduates. The survey revealed a remarkably high level of student happiness: 97 percent of respondents stated that they were happy studying at IPB University Vocational School. Meanwhile, 95 percent of students agreed that the lecturers were engaging and supportive in teaching and mentoring. These findings reflect a positive and encouraging campus atmosphere that fosters collaboration and enthusiasm for learning.

Strong peer relationships also emerged as one of the school’s distinctive strengths. According to the survey, 98 percent of respondents said their interactions with fellow students were enjoyable, reflecting a close-knit and supportive community among the graduates.

The most memorable experiences during college were dominated by friendships and peer relationships (30 percent), aligning with the high happiness rate. This was followed by practical and fieldwork activities (18%), highlighting students’ appreciation for hands-on learning experiences. Other memorable aspects included participation in organizations and committees (12%), interactions with lecturers and classes (10%), and assignments and reports (8%).

Interestingly, improvements in campus facilities were also frequently mentioned. Compared to five years ago, students now benefit from more modern and well-equipped buildings, laboratories, and gymnasiums.

“Student complaints must always be responded to positively, and the results of that approach can now be felt,” said the Rector during his speech.

On that occasion, Prof Arif reaffirmed IPB University’s commitment to producing competent and adaptive vocational graduates who are ready to face the challenges of a changing world. He noted that IPB University is the only higher education institution in Indonesia that provides 8.500 free microcredential accounts, enabling students to acquire skills relevant to industry demands.

In addition, 2.161 students have earned professional competency certificates from national and global institutions, serving as valuable complements to their academic degrees.

“When applying for a job, employers no longer ask about your GPA, your family background, or where you come from. What matters now is what you can demonstrate your skills and proven competencies,” said Prof Arif.

In closing, Prof Arif encouraged the graduates to become lifelong learners with a future mindset, to focus on future practice, and to uphold strong character and integrity. (Am) (IAAS/TIR)
