IPB University has once again made its mark at the prestigious Media Relations Awards (MRA) 2025 from the Indonesian Press Association (SPS), which was announced at Anjong Mon Mata, Banda Aceh (10/20). On this occasion, IPB University won the Gold Medal in the Best Press Release on Sustainability category.

The award was given for a press release titled “IPB Marine Conservation Experts Reveal the Threat of Nickel Mining to Sperm Whales, Giant Clams, and Manta Rays in Raja Ampat,” which was published on June 19, 2025.

Rector Prof Arif Satria said that this award is clear evidence of IPB University’s commitment to maintaining strong and professional relationships with the media.

“Through a sustainability-based communication strategy, we want to ensure that every piece of information we convey is not only informative but also supports sustainable development in Indonesia,” said Arif.

Furthermore, Prof Arif added that this achievement is the result of collaboration among all members of the IPB University academic community, particularly in strengthening an adaptive and transparent public communication system.

He hopes that this award will motivate IPB University to continue to deliver inspiring and impactful public communication practices.

Meanwhile, the Director of Cooperation, Communication, and Marketing at IPB University, Dr Alfian Helmi, said that this award shows the public’s trust in IPB University’s efforts to disseminate positive and constructive information.

“We hope that this achievement will further strengthen IPB University’s collaboration with national and regional media, as well as encourage us to continue innovating in delivering messages based on science, data, and sustainability,” said Dr Alfian.

According to him, this success is also proof of IPB University’s role in building strategic communication that strengthens the reputation of higher education institutions on the national and global stage.

The Media Relations Awards are part of the main 79th SPS Awards, which were held again this year to recognize the performance of various institutions in the field of media relations.

The competition covers various categories, both writing and non-writing, and serves as a platform for institutions to showcase innovative and sustainable communication strategies. (dr) (IAAS/Ard)
