Najwa Shihab, Raditya Dika, and Nicholas Saputra Inspire IPB University Students at Generasi Campus Roadshow
Three inspiring figures, Najwa Shihab, Raditya Dika, and Nicholas Saputra, shared their experiences and enthusiasm to IPB University students in the Generasi Campus Roadshow 2025: “Ignite Limitless Potential”, Wednesday (10/22).
Set on the stage of Grha Widya Wisuda, IPB Dramaga Campus, the three of them told a reflection of their life journey about the courage to take risks, the meaning of anxiety, and the process of finding oneself through work.
Prof Yulin Lestari, Director of Educational Transformation and Learning Technology of IPB University said, this kind of cross-generational dialog space is important as a vehicle for the growth of ideas and human values.
“Campus is not just a learning space, but also a space for dialog, reflection, and collaboration across ages and across fields. This is where great ideas grow and the spirit of change is sown,” she said when opening the event organized by Grab, Narasi, and IPB University.
She believes that each generation has a unique contribution to the nation. The younger generation brings the courage to innovate, while the senior generation provides depth of reflection and wisdom.
“Moments like this are a trigger so that the campus continues to be a living space that encourages creativity and fosters the courage to speak up and work,” she added.
In the sharing session, journalist Najwa Shihab, shared her experience building Mata Najwa as an independent program.
“When I decided to make Mata Najwa, it was a tough decision. If the program fails, will the Najwa fail? But that’s where the courage lies,” she said.
Najwa also highlighted the importance of adaptation in the digital era and the role of journalists in maintaining integrity amid the flood of information.
“Now the world is hit by a tsunami of information. That’s where the relevance of journalists is tested,” she said.
This was also inspired by Raditya Dika. The writer and film director sees success born from readiness and courage to try new things. He shared his story of breaking into the entertainment world from book writer to digital creator.
“I used to put books in exhibitions, but no one saw them. Finally I performed stand-up comedy, and from there everything changed,” he recalls.
“If we are always comfortable, we will not grow. Restlessness is the fuel of innovation,” he said.
Raditya also emphasized the importance of being ready for opportunities. “Keep learning and prepare yourself so that when the opportunity comes, we are ready to welcome it,” he added.
Actor and producer Nicholas Saputra also recognized the same thing. He emphasized that restlessness is the main source of inspiration in his work. “The beginning of a work is anxiety. When I see something that tickles my heart, there comes inspiration,” he explains.
According to him, curiosity and life experience are important energies for a creator. “If life is too comfortable, there is nothing to ignite our passion to create,” he said.
The Generasi Campus Roadshow 2025 activity is an inspirational space for IPB University students to learn from creative actors. Through real stories and deep reflections, this activity emphasizes that courage, restlessness, and a relentless spirit of learning are the keys to igniting unlimited potential. (AS) (IAAS/GMT)
