The colorful performances of Indonesian arts and culture on the Grha Widya Wisuda stage brought the IPB University Nusantara Festival 2025 to a sweet close. Not only was it a celebration of cultural harmony, this year’s Nusantara Festival also served as a night of appreciation for the students.

IPB University Rector Prof Arif Satria closed the Gebyar Nusantara 2025 event series by delivering a number of messages.

Prof Arif reminded the audience of the importance of understanding Indonesia’s cultural diversity as a source of national strength. According to him, social and cultural diversity reflects the richness of civilization that must be preserved.

“Diversity is not a problem, but a strength. Nature teaches us to depend on each other, to network, and to live in diversity,” he said during the Closing Genus X Papresi event (10/26).

At IPB University, student organization (ormawa) activities are one of the most memorable experiences for students. The reason is that ormawa provides many benefits in character building and achievement.

“Of the ten reasons for student happiness, one of them is ormawa activities. This shows that ormawa is the most preferred and meaningful platform,” he said.

That evening, Prof Arif also mentioned that humans have three primary needs: the need for power, the need for affiliation, and the need for achievement.

A country will become advanced if its people have a high spirit of achievement. “IPB University students have a very high need for achievement. Student organizations are the right institutions to foster this spirit,” he explained.

Prof Arif also advised students to distinguish between image and reputation. “Image is when we say we are great, while reputation is when other people say we are great. Reputation is born from a long process and an orientation towards achievement,” he said.

He emphasized that reputation can only be built through real contributions and benefits to the surrounding environment.

Meanwhile, the Executive Chair of Gebyar Nusantara 2025, Noel Alfara Sitanggang, said that this event was the culmination of IPB University’s biggest cultural celebration with the theme of Cultural Preservation, Harmony of the Archipelago.

“Tonight is not just the end, but a celebration of the harmony we have created together. IPB University is a miniature of Indonesia, a place where diversity is a unifying force, not a divisive one,” he said.

He explained that the Gebyar Nusantara 2025 series began on September 13 with a fun walk and cultural parade, followed by the selection of Regional Student Organization Prince and Princess and an art festival participated in by 20 regional student organizations.

“We are all winners in celebrating diversity and maintaining harmony,” said Noel. (dr) (IAAS/LAN)
