There was something different about this year’s IPB University graduation ceremony. During the Doctoral, Master’s, and Bachelor’s Degree Conferment Ceremony for the 2025/2026 Academic Year (10/29), IPB University awarded an honorary bachelor’s degree to the late Anggit Bima Wicaksana.

Anggit Bima Wicaksono was a student in the Land Resource Management Study Program at the Faculty of Agriculture. He died while on duty in the Fakfak Transmigration Area, West Papua, during the Patriot Expedition mission.

Anggit was known as an extraordinary person. His leadership skills, dedication to his duties, and sincerity in serving not only IPB but also the nation and state deserve appreciation. One form of appreciation is the awarding of an honorary degree to Anggit at today’s graduation ceremony.

The Rector of IPB University, Prof Arif Satria, expressed his deep sorrow over the passing of the late Anggit. According to him, Anggit’s spirit and sincerity in dedicating himself to the nation are a true reflection of IPB University’s values for Indonesia.

“He worked in a quiet place, far from applause, with sincerity and a strong desire to use his knowledge for the benefit of society. His dedication is an inspiration to us all,” said Prof Arif.

Anggit had completed all academic requirements and met the graduation criteria, but had not yet taken the final exam or attended the graduation ceremony.

“As a form of appreciation for his dedication and hard work, IPB University awarded the late Anggit an honorary bachelor’s degree,” said the Rector.

This award, he continued, is not only a form of academic recognition, but also an acknowledgment of the values of sincerity, dedication, and patriotism that are the spirit of IPB University students.

“May his spirit live on in other IPB students to continue to serve, work, and benefit society, wherever they may be,” he concluded.

Ngatno, Anggit’s father, who was present at the graduation ceremony, expressed his emotion and gratitude to IPB University for the award given to his son.

“Our impression is so profound because this award is extraordinary. We are deeply moved that Anggit, whom I call Bimo every day, chose the right place to study, a place where he can develop himself and his aspirations. I am sure that here he is educated with a high spirit of dedication,” he said.

He and his family said they were proud of the education Bimo received at IPB University.

“With the education he received at IPB, Bimo has dedication and commitment to what he learned during the four years. Bimo chose to apply his knowledge to his friends in Papua. We are very proud that he is part of IPB,” he added.

For him, this award is not only a source of pride for the family, but also a form of respect for Bimo’s passion for learning. “This appreciation is a reward for his hard work and the knowledge he has gained at IPB,” he said.

His message to students is that Bimo’s passion and dedication can be an inspiration.

“I hope that the passion that Bimo has built can live on in the hearts of his friends and all young people. I am sure that IPB is not only a cultural reserve, but also a reserve of knowledge and scholars, a place that gives birth to extraordinary wisdom and benefits for the nation and country,” he said emotionally.

“Extraordinary, we are grateful that Bimo has been accepted in the right place, at an extraordinary campus, as stated by the Rector earlier. Thank you,” he concluded.

The Minister of Transmigration (Mentrans) Muhammad Iftitah Sulaiman Suryanagara also expressed his deep appreciation and gratitude to the Rector and the entire academic community of IPB University for their dedication and contribution to the nation and state.

“We are also grateful that IPB has awarded bachelor’s degrees to sons of the nation such as the late Bimo, which shows the high regard for the dedication of Indonesia’s youth,” he said. (IAAS/LAN)
