Audience with Paser Regency Government, IPB University Team Begins Mapping Leading Commodities in Kerang Transmigration Area
The IPB University Patriot Expedition Team in the Kerang Transmigration Area, Paser District, East Kalimantan, held a meeting with the Paser District Government (Pemkab). This meeting marked the beginning of strategic collaboration between academics, government, and the community in supporting the development of the transmigration area.
The Chairmam of the IPB University team, Dr Doni Sahat Tua Manalu, explained that IPB University will focus on mapping leading commodities in the transmigration area in Paser. Meanwhile, the expedition teams from the University of Indonesia and the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) will focus on community institutions and regional mapping, respectively.
“This collaboration is expected to be an important stepping stone for more inclusive and sustainable development policies,” he said.
The meeting, which took place at the Paser Regency Office, was held to discuss the study plan in the transmigration area. During the meeting, the Regent of Paser was represented by the Assistant for Government Affairs.
This hearing served as an important forum to discuss development challenges, ranging from infrastructure and education to transmigration issues. The Paser Regional Government, represented by Assistant Administrator Romif Erwinadi, affirmed its full support for the Patriot Expedition.
“We hope that the results of the study will have a real impact on the community and serve as important input for the local government’s work,” he said.
Furthermore, he also emphasized that students are expected to be able to provide solutions for the local government. “The studies conducted can have a positive impact on Paser Regency, especially since the current social conditions still reject the transmigration program. The government will support targeted studies,” he added.
In line with this, Juhaeni, Chairman of the Transmigration Division of Paser Regency, considered this program to be very relevant. “We hope that the health office and Bappeda (Regional Development Planning Agency) can provide their full support, especially in providing the necessary data, so that the program can run according to its objectives,” he said.
Additionally, the meeting highlighted Paser’s key potential products such as ecoprint, longan, and coffee being developed in the Batu Engau area. These products are expected to boost village economies and strengthen the creative economy of the community. (*/Rz)(IAAS/RWA)
