An Unforgettable Legacy of Service: IPB University Awards Degree to the Late Anggit Bima
Rector Prof Arif Satria attended the funeral of Anggit Bima Wicaksana, an IPB University student who was also a member of the Patriot Expedition Team (TEP) who died while serving in the Bomberay transmigration area, Fakfak, West Papua.
In recognition of the late Anggit’s hard work during his lifetime, Prof Arif will present the diploma and bachelor’s degree to Anggit’s family at the graduation ceremony on October 29.
This was conveyed by Prof Arif when he gave a speech at Anggit’s funeral home before the funeral procession at the Tanah Kusir Public Cemetery (TPU) in South Jakarta. The awarding of the diploma and bachelor’s degree is also a form of IPB University’s responsibility in accompanying Anggit Bima as its student.
“As a form of IPB’s appreciation for his hard work, sincerity, and dedication in carrying out the Patriot Expedition with all his heart, as well as his academic track record, we hereby award Anggit Bima Wicaksana a bachelor’s degree,” said Prof Arif.
“We invite Anggit’s parents to the graduation ceremony on October 29, 2025. God willing, we will present the diploma as a sign that we have completed our task,” said Prof Arif, greeted by tears from Anggit’s family.
The rector also expressed his deep sorrow to the family of the deceased, as well as his pride in Anggit’s dedication during his time at IPB University.
“There is not much we can give to Anggit during our time accompanying him as a student. However, we consider him to be an extraordinary person. Anggit was the class president, a responsible leader, and had strong leadership qualities,” said Prof Arif.
According to Prof Arif, Anggit’s leadership spirit did not just appear out of nowhere, but grew from his hard work and sincerity in contributing to society.
“His leadership was formed from real dedication and struggle. His persistence in giving his best to society is clear evidence of the true spirit of the Patriot Expedition,” he continued.
He also invited the entire academic community of IPB University to pray for the late Anggit so that he would receive the best place at the side of Allah SWT. Prof Arif hoped that Anggit’s work and spirit of dedication would inspire the entire academic community to continue spreading benefits.
At the end of his speech, Prof Arif also expressed his appreciation to the Ministry of Transmigration and all parties who had given their attention and support in the process of repatriating the body and the funeral procession.
“Thank you to the Minister of Transmigration and all officials who have helped with empathy. May the collaboration in the Patriot Expedition program continue to bring benefits to the country, as envisioned by our brother Anggit,” he said.
