The Indonesian National Zakat Agency (Baznas) collaborated with IPB University to hold a Bootcamp and Grand Final for the 2025 Santripreneur Competition in the Creative Industry Cluster. The event, held at the IPB Baranangsiang Campus (10/ 6-10), aims to foster an entrepreneurial spirit among santri.
A total of 50 participants were selected from 100 finalists from 20 provinces and 70 cities/regencies in Indonesia. They underwent a quarantine process and intensive training at IPB University. The participants received direct guidance from experts, creators, and academic figures to hone their skills and strengthen their potential in creativity and digital-based businesses.
The Chairman of the Center for Agricultural and Rural Development Studies (PSP3) at IPB University, Prof Jaenal Effendi, said that this program is an important moment for santri to level up and begin their journey as young entrepreneurs.
“This is a golden opportunity that doesn’t come twice. Students are not only learning to recite the Quran, but also taking action in the real world. During their five days at IPB, participants gained technical knowledge and motivation to start creative businesses,” said Prof Jaenal.
At IPB University, he continued, participants will be equipped with organizational skills and the Santripreneur mindset. “We don’t just provide theory, but also help them apply creative economics in practice. This way, they will be ready to become outstanding entrepreneurs,” he added.
Meanwhile, Prof Arya Hadi Darmawan, The Chairman of the International Research Institute for Social, Economic, and Regional Development (LRI PSEK) at IPB University, expressed appreciation to Baznas for organizing the program. According to him, this activity serves as a platform for fostering sustainable creative ideas.
“Santri play a vital role in building an honest and sustainable entrepreneurial ecosystem. They are at the forefront of promoting values of honesty in this challenging digital era,” he said.
Ahmad Fikri, Director of Distribution at Baznas RI, noted that the total number of Santripreneur 2025 registrants reached 2.900 participants across three clusters: Hajj and Umrah, agriculture and livestock, and creative industries. Each cluster selected the top 100 participants.
“We hope that during these five days, we will not only find the best, but also generate income and faith. How can the creative industry not only quickly capture the service market, but also provide the community with extraordinary credit value,” he said.
This boot camp, he said, is not just about competition, but also about developing students who can generate income while increasing their faith and providing benefits to the community through zakat.
In this program, the top 100 participants will receive initial business funding. Later, the top 50 will be selected again to become the top 10 who will receive further assistance. Santripreneurs are expected to give birth to young santri entrepreneurs who are independent, innovative, and competitive in the creative industry era. (IAAS/KQA)
